Our Commitment to You...Always. We survived the Polar Vortex! Spring brings us more daylight, more excitement, outdoor spaces to enjoy, and a homecoming for many of our snowbird friends. We see people re-energized and ready to get outside to start new projects, open up the cabin, or plan that summer vacation they have been dreaming about. There are graduations, celebrations and optimism is in the air. Whatever your plans are for the months ahead, remember that your friends at Lake Elmo Bank are here to meet your financial needs. We take our commitment to you seriously. Our customers are always at the center of our decisions. Over our 100+ years, we have made it a priority and a tradition to treat all customers respectfully and fairly. Preparing for Your MortgageApplying for a mortgage can often be intimidating and overwhelming. In an ideal situation, our Mortgage Lenders would like to meet with prospective home buyers 3-6 months before making a purchase. We can explain the process and begin to help you prepare.

There are a few items you can do to get yourself “mortgage-ready”:

1. Review Your Credit Report/Score. There are many free options for pulling your credit report. We recommend visiting www.ftc.gov. Be sure the information is accurate. If you see any late payments or collection accounts you were unaware of - now is the time to get this “cleaned” up.

2. Know the Amount of Your Down Payment. These funds need to be available at the time of application. If there are gift funds anticipated, it is a good idea to discuss this with those gifting.

3. Don’t Make an Employment Change. Switching jobs may affect your qualification process.

4. Don’t Open or Close Credit Cards / Lines. This may impact your credit score during the qualification process.

5. Steady on the Credit. Avoid late payments or purchasing a big ticket item. Don’t max out credit cards. Do not co-sign for a loan.

6. Avoid Making Large Deposits. Other than payroll, large deposits need to have the source documented by the lender.
