BACKCO 46 (52, 56, 62, 68) sts. Knit 3 rows. Change to Lace Pattern and work even until pc meas approx 19 (19, 20½, 20½, 22¼)” or desired length, ending after Row 7. Knit 2 rows. BO all sts knitwise.

Leave a 10” tail for sewing shoulder. Place removable markers 8 (8, 8¾, 8¾, 9¼)” down from shoulder.

FRONTWork as for back.

SLEEVESCO 40 (40, 44, 44, 46) sts. Knit 3 rows. Change to Lace Pattern and work even until pc meas approx 13” or desired length, ending after Row 7. Knit 2 rows. BO all sts knitwise.

FINISHINGBlock pcs to meas. Sew front to back at shoulders, leaving approx 10 (11¾, 12½, 13¾, 14¾)” in the center open for neck. Sew in sleeves between markers. Sew sleeve and side seams. Weave in ends.

From the Designer

I do a lot of my own designs for the store. I try to develop patterns for my customers that don’t have a lot of shaping or finishing, but have interest in the stitch pattern or yarn. I want the patterns to be very workable and my customers excited about their projects. When I first worked with Katydid, I loved the ease of working it. It doesn’t split like many types of cottons and has a lot of fullness for its weight. I started swatching lace patterns on size 13 needles and loved the look.

The lace pattern I used in the sweater is totally reversible, so it also makes a great scarf or shawl. The sweater is made from four rectangles. There’s no increasing or decreasing to throw off the pattern. It’s great over a tank top, dress, or even a swimsuit. One of my customers made the same sweater on the same size needles out of Sprout and it also worked out great. She had it finished in a week. Get started now and you can enjoy it this summer.
