Research Internship in Science & Engineering

Page 25: The Summer Academy at St. John’s College Web viewSummer College Programs 2013. The Summer Academy at St. John’s College. A Great Week with Great Works Annapolis, Maryland: July

Spend six weeks this summer conducting university-level research in state-of-the-art laboratories, alongside some of the sharpest scientific minds in the country.

Learn how to get started »

Under the mentorship of our distinguished faculty, post-doctoral fellows, and graduate students, high school summer research internship (RISE) students work on a research project designed by their professor for forty hours a week. You will conduct research in a discipline of your interest, gaining valuable technical and analytical skills, as well as insight into the scientific process.

We have research opportunities in the following subject areas: astronomy, biology, biomedical engineering, chemistry, electrical and computer engineering, mechanical engineering, medical laboratory research, physics, and psychology.

The Big Picture

Whether residing on campus or commuting, summer research interns enjoy a stimulating intellectual and social camaraderie with their peers, culminating in a scientific conference at the end of the program. Each student presents his or her research by creating a poster. In some cases, research interns submit their work to national science fair contests such as the Siemens Competition and the Intel Science Talent Search.
