• Mustafa Kemal Ataturk was born in 1881. He was a Turkish army officer, revolutionary, and the first President of Turkey. He is credited with being the founder of the Republic of Turkey. He died in 1938.

ISMET INONU• İsmet İnönü was a Turkish

general and statesman, who served as the second President of Turkey from 11 November 1938, the day after the death of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, to 22 May 1950.

• He was born in Izmir in 1884. Atatürk gave him the last name İNÖNÜ with the surname law in 1934. He died in December 25 in 1973.

BULENT ECEVIT• Bülent Ecevit was a

Turkish politician, poet, writer, scholar, and journalist, who served as the Prime Minister of Turkey four times between 1974 and 2002.

• He was born in Istanbul in 1925 and , died in 2006.

• Alcide de Gasperi was born on April 3, 1881, in Pieve Tesino, Austria-Hungary (now Italy.) In 1911 he was elected to the Austrian parliament as an Italian representative. He was elected deputy to the Italian parliament in 1921 as one of the founders of the Italian Popular Party. After the fall of his government in 1953, he became secretary general of the Christian Democratic Party.

Giuseppe Mazzini• Giuseppe Mazzini was an Italian

politician, journalist and activist for the unification of Italy and spearheaded the Italian revolutionary movement. His efforts helped bring about the independent and unified Italy in place of the several separate states, many dominated by foreign powers, that existed until the 19th century.

Giuseppe Garibaldi• Giuseppe Garibaldi was an

Italian general, politician and nationalist who played a large role in the history of Italy. He led successful military campaigns in both Latin America and Europe and became known as the ‘hero of two worlds’. His efforts in Italy played a very significant role in leading to Italian unification.

• Lech Wałęsa is a retired Polish politician and labor activist. He co-founded and headed Solidarity, the Soviet bloc's first independent trade union, won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1983, and served as President of Poland from 1990 to 1995.

CLARA CAMPOAMOR• She was a Spanish politician, a

defender of women’s rights, and one of the main driving forces behind women’s suffrage in Spain, which was achieved in 1931, and exercised by women for the first time in the 1933 elections. Clara Campoamor began working aged 13; she was a seamstress, a shop attendant, a telegraph assistant, a teacher for adults, a newspaper secretary and a translator. Aged 33, she returned to her secondary studies and at the age of 36 became a lawyer. She worked for women all her life. Campoamor died in Switzerland in 1972.

• 9 April 1920 – 19 June 2009) was a Jesuit missionary who spent his life working to improve the lives of the poor in the mission he founded in Southern India. Today the Vicente Ferrer Foundation carries out humanitarian projects in Andhra Pradesh, bringing aid to over 2.5 million poor people.

• Felipe González Márquez is a Spanish social-democratic politician. He was the General Secretary of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party from 1974 to 1997. To date, he remains the longest-serving Prime Minister of Spain.

1911) was a Portuguese physician and the first woman to vote in Portugal. She used the ambiguity a law that issued the right to vote to literate head-of-households over 21 to cast her vote in the election of the Constituent National Assembly in 1911.

• Raimonds Vējonis is the current President of Latvia, in office since 2015. He is a member of the Green Party, part of the Union of Greens and Farmers. He became Minister of Defence of Latvia in 2014 and held that office until becoming President in 2015.
