1/19/16 artist Melodie Maurer Williams Stratford Street Big Band The Stratford Street Big Band came together to revive the sound and feel of the live big band experience. We enjoy the excitement of the personal interaction between musicians, listeners, and dancers as we bring back the sounds and feelings of the swing, Broadway, and jazz era. The harmonies and beauty of our three vocal artists showcase the rare sound of a female trio in concert with a 20 piece band. We first began meeting each other through community orchestras playing for Christmas programs, Messiah sing-a-longs and 4th of July celebrations. We all felt like we could do more and provide big band music for larger diverse audiences if we dug out the old swing era charts and put out a single. We have been together for nearly 15 years now as the Stratford Street Big Band. We subsidize our musical habit with our day jobs as Doctors, Professors, Lawyers, Engineers, Teachers, and many more. We are happy to bring this large, live, swinging sound to your event.
