My Father’s Day sermon referenced one of my favorite books, The Simple Faith of Mr. Rogers by Amy Hollingsworth. I have given this book as a gift more than any other book. You can purchase the paperback edition from Amazon and it’s available for your Kindle ($1.99.) Fred Rogers, a Presbyterian pastor, is one of my favorite theologians. He

produced over 900 episodes of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood and wrote more than 200 songs.

Below are some of my favorite gleanings from the book: “Taking one’s time, especially in relationships, allows the other person to know he or she is worth the time.” “The essence of prayer is relationship… the thing God wants most of all is a relationship with you.” “Perhaps the greenness of your youth is gone, but in its place is a wisdom that allows your true colors to be displayed.” “How we see ourselves affects how we see others.” “You establish yourself as a neighbor by your show of mercy to others.” “Your neighbor is the person you happen to be with at the moment.” “Every person is made in the image of God, and for that reason alone, he or she is to be valued – appreciated.” “Forgiving others turns out to be a gift to you, not so much the gift to the person you’re forgiving.” “Listen with your heart… it is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.” “Heroes are people who will notice a need in the world and do something about it, and rather than view it with despair, they view it with hope. RECEIVED IN THE MAIL Dear Friends, I can’t thank you enough for all the cards, calls, offers of help, prayers/good wishes and flowers received during my recent absence. It’s great to be back…and I should be running around normally in a few weeks! You all were so kind when my Mac was sick…I figured that was plenty of good wishes for one lifetime…but this was just amazing, and I thank you all so much. DUC is a good port in a storm. Much love, Nancy

SOCIAL CONCERNS Service opportunities!

Faith Family Meals served at the Faith Assembly of God Church on the FIRST Friday of every month! You can be a part of this vital mission in Hyannis by assisting in the set-up, serving, and clean-up of this meal. Very easy and fulfilling work. Please contact Cindy at [email protected] fir more information.

Day of Hospitality luncheons are served every-other-month at Dennis Union. We require Drivers to transport guests from Salvation Army (corner of North and Winter Streets) to DUC and back again to Hyannis. The lunches begin as soon as guests arrive at approximately 12:30 p.m. and conclude at 2:00 p.m. Also, we always need desserts, drinks, and HOSTS. Our next lunch is this month!

D-YECH SUPERMARKET GIFT CARDS Have you tried our easy way to do your part in homelessness prevention? Using our gift cards helps to provide necessary funds to the Housing Assistance Corporation in their effort to minimize family homelessness. Five percent of card sales go directly to this much needed program. Cards can be purchased during our Fellowship Hour or in the church office. In addition to supermarket gift cards, we can order gift cards for many other stores.

Thank you for taking part in this weekend's historic Tri-Conference Annual Meeting! I hope you'll agree that the participation of so many people from across our three Conferences made for a truly remarkable occasion.

An initial article about the vote in favor of moving forward with plans to form a new

Conference has been posted online, along with the Together, As One video shown at plenary and many, many photos.

We will continue to post additional articles about what transpired, including the votes taken at the separate plenary sessions, in the coming days; and we will post videos from the event as soon as they are ready.

We will also post a synopsis of each Conference's meeting that delegates can use to report back to their congregations on the business conducted.

All of that is being posted on our Annual Meeting Wrap-Up page at: macucc.org/triconam.

You will hear more from me in the coming days as more information and resources are posted. In the meantime, I want to encourage you to share your experience with the folks in your congregation through newsletter and bulletin articles, ministry moments and social media. We're counting on you to help the folks in your congregation understand what is happening in the wider church.

Thank you!

Tiffany Vail

Associate Conference Minister for Communications Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island Conferences

July 25: Pies - 9:00 to 2:00 (These will be fresh frozen and baked the day before the fair.) August 11: Flower Arranging - 10:00 to 1:00 (In the Board Room) Our bouquets are some of our best sellers.
