Role Play: 2 student volunteers neededStudent: “Hi Grandma. I am taking this

diabetes class at school, and I am supposed to talk with someone every week who has diabetes. Would it be ok if I talked to you?”

Grandma: “Sure, baby, but you don’t know anything about diabetes.”

Student: “Well, doctors are going to come and teach us a lot of stuff that I can tell you about.”

Uncle: “I don’t know why you are so worried about my diabetes. I don’t think it’s a big deal.”

Student: “Well, diabetes can cause a lot of bad problems with your health. I care about you, so I don’t want that to happen to you.”

Uncle: “What kind of bad problems?”

Student 2: “Well, my mom has diabetes, so I think I will coach her if she will let me. How about you?”

Student 2: “It can be anyone who wants to be healthier. They don’t have to have diabetes.”

Student 1: “I guess I’ll coach my grandpa because he has been trying to lose weight.”
