This will be an opportunity to “kill two birds with one stone!” Learn about the rewards and benefits of gardening, and then taste some of the finest wines being crafted in Spokane. Barrister Winery is the venue, and a buffet lunch will be catered by Beacon Hill Events, known as one of the best caterers in the region. Our presenter, Cathi Lamoreaux, a Speech Language Pathologist for Infinity Rehab in Spokane, is actively involved in cognitive rehabilitation programs, dementia garden design and programming, and adaptive gardening techniques. Cathi is a Master Gardener, has a B.A. in Early Childhood Education, and an M.A. in Communication Disorders. She also holds certificates in Horticultural Therapy and Geriatric Cognitive Rehabilitation. Following Cathi’s sharing of knowledge gleaned from years spent with her hands dug deep in rich soil, Barrister Winery owner, Greg Lipsker, will take us on a tour of his outstanding facility. This is an event you will not want to miss. Mimi, Ro, and Susie As I contemplate my message to you, the television is reporting the terrorist attacks in France. How lucky we are to reside on this particular compass point that seems so remote from the troubles of the world...although I did feel vulnerable when my favorite coffee place in Sydney was invaded by a terrorist just before Christmas. I asked the ladies at the luncheon if they would be proactive in reaching out to members whom they do not know, and I am extending that invitation to each of you. Consult your Directory and call or email a lady and introduce yourself. You will be surprised how appreciative she will be, as you would be, to know another member wants to know her. Some members are involved in many activities and interest groups, but there are some ladies who are new to the area, or do not have family in Spokane, or are just too shy to come to the luncheons because they do not know many ladies. Respect for and tolerance of each other is such a positive. It is only human nature that in a group of approximately 150 women there will be various views on religion, politics, education, discipline, life style, fashion, husbands, and music, but listening to one another and being tolerant is so easy and such a simple act... you may even learn something. You are all great women with so much life experience, and you need to share this with others. I shall finish now as someone wants to borrow my soap box!
