Pastor’s Column:

Spring Has Sprung!

Departing Seattle in February and returning in March this year had me feeling a bit like I was observing time-lapse photography. All at once, it seemed, our Magnolia neighborhood had moved from winter into spring, and the glorious beauty of budding trees and flowering bulbs and cherry blossoms. Here in the northern hemisphere, the rhythms of springtime coincide nicely with the Easter season and our focus on resurrection hope. For the beauty of the earth, For the glory of the skies, For the love which from our birth, Over and around us lies, Lord of all thee we raise This is our hymn of grateful praise. May you truly enjoy the beauty of the earth, in this season of new life! Grace and peace, Pastor Deb Sunoo

Palm Sunday & Easter Celebration 2016

Happy Spring!

It seems strange that we have just barely dipped into spring and yet Holy Week is already behind us. Thank you to everyone who helped to make our annual Easter egg hunt a success! Hopefully, by the time you read this we will start to see more and more sunny days as we move through spring and start anticipating summer. It's always so exciting to see the end of the school year coming into view, but this year it will be a little bittersweet as it means we will be closer to saying our farewells. Before then there is still lots of fun to be had together! We will continue to sing songs, read Bible stories, play games, draw, color and share our stories with one another. As always, I thank you for the privilege of getting to spend time with these wonderful children each week and look forward to a great finish to the school year! Did You Know…

Our fabulous Children’s Program is paid for by us Here’s what that means: The money you put in the collection plate each week goes towards the cool programs our kids participate in downstairs during church (and hiring someone to lead them), while you get to listen to the sermons in peace and quiet! But what does that really mean? It means that our children are learning from quality leaders that we hire who know how to teach the gospel to the next generation. The awesome craft projects they participate in turn church into playtime, and the cool songs they learn turn into magnificent Christmas Pageants! How can we help? Commit to our community. You built it, let’s keep it going. It’s easy! Put cash in the offering plate – like a good amount! Write a check – if you carry them with you Auto-withdrawal from your bank account – like your cable bill Donate online – through PayPal – what’s easier?

Remember, each week is your opportunity to support us all,

especially our kids!

Thank you Jacque!

Sadly, we must bid farewell to our wonderful Office Administrator, Jacque Kuhn, on April 1st. Jacque has been studying for the last three years at the Seattle School of Theology and Psychology, to become a counselor. She was offered a terrific job through her internship that required her to give her notice here. We will miss her enormously when she goes, but wish her all the best in her new position. Congratulations, Jacque, as you enter this exciting new chapter of your life. May God be with you there! Meanwhile, we are pleased to welcome Zib Marshall to MPC as our new Office Administrator. This is her first solo week in the office, having done some training with Jacque before she left. Look for a more complete introduction of Zib in next month's Spire!

Calling all Graduates! Is there a family member who will graduate this year? Please let us know, as we would like to highlight all of our graduates: high school, college, graduate school in the May Spire. Please email information and photo to Nancy Wright, [email protected]

Mexican Dinner and Dessert Auction May 6th

Mark your calendars for a fun, all-church event on Friday evening, May 6th. A Mexican Taco Bar with all the fixings will be served at 6 pm in Fellowship Hall. Just $3.00 per person is the suggested donation for a delicious family dinner.

A Dessert Auction will follow dinner, so come prepared to bid on a pie, take home a delicious cake, or score a sweet treat. The minimum bid on dessert auction items will be $20.00. The dessert auction supports Deacons mission projects like Operation Nightwatch, Ballard Food Bank, and Mary’s Place. Again this year look for a Bake Sale Table operated by our very own MPC youth group with delicious treats for a dollar or less to support the Ballard Food Bank. For more information or to offer a dessert for the auction, contact Laurie Trettel at [email protected]
