Reflection of the Gospel:

Even the eleven remaining disciples who went to the

mountain with Jesus and worshipped, doubted. Mat-

thew does not explain why they doubted, but just that

they did. Perhaps they were concerned about what

was to come. Perhaps they were concerned about

Jesus leaving them. When Jesus came near and

spoke to them, he gave them what is known as the

“Grate Commission”. Power in heaven and earth was

given to Jesus, and now he sends his disciples forth

to form more disciples. They are to baptize the disci-

ple-to-be in the “name of the Father, and the Son,

and of the Holy Spirit”-the Trinitarian formula the

Church has used for centuries when the baptismal

water is poured. Jesus concludes with words of reas-

surance to his disciples. He will be with them as they

go forth in mission and will remain with them forever,

until the end of time.

An evangelizing community gets involved by word and

deed in people’s daily lives; it bridges distances, it is

willing to abase itself if necessary, and it embraces

human life, touching the suffering flesh of Christ in

Reflexión del Evangelio: La ultima visión de Jesús que nos presenta el Evangelio de San Marcos ocurre en una montaña, lo que sin duda represen-ta la antípoda de la primera montaña de su relato, la del episo-dio de la tercera tentación, donde el diablo le prometía al Me-sías todo el mundo y sus reinos a cambio de tributarle pleite-sía. Ahora, en este punto del evangelio, el Mesías ha sido exal-tado y ha recibido absoluta autoridad sobre el mundo. Esa autoridad no se la ha apropiado sino que Dios se la ha otorga-do, y ahora el, el Mesías, emplea esa potestad para hacer de sus discípulos, embajadores suyos a todas las naciones. Serán embajadores del Reino. Si el bautismo en el nombre de la Trinidad, Padre, Hijo y Espíritu Santo, es la puerta de entra-da al discipulado, lo sustancial es la guarda de lo enseñado. Esto remite al evangelio entero, que consiste más en un modo de vida que en una doctrina a repetir por subsiguientes gene-raciones. Desde aquí no se contempla tanto una misión itine-rante cuanto sedentaria. La enseñanza es mas una practica, un hacer iluminado, para que por imitación los aprendices se vuelvan fieles a la voluntad de Dios.

en la vida cotidiana de las personas; tiende puentes, está dispuesto a

humillarse si es necesario, y abarca la vida humana, tocando la carne

The final Officers’ Meeting of this Fraternal Year will be held on

Thursday, 31 May, in the Council Chambers at 7 PM. All Officers

are asked to attend.

We celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity this Sunday. We Catholics believe in One God in Three Persons. It is a mystery that we are called to believe and to live. The concluding part of the Gospel of Matthew gives us the Trinitarian For-

mula as the Lord commissions his disciples to go to the whole world and baptize the people in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. While giving this mandate to his disciples, he also calls them and all of us to live our faith in the Trinity as we live our life as one community. Our Lord was very with his commandment: “Love one another as I have loved you. We are called to live a life of love and communion that is to be one with God and one another. It is a great sign of our being an Easter People. We are to live as a community of Christ’s Disciples. Pope Francis would make an emphasis on our calling as missionary disciples. We are followers of Jesus with a mission. The Lord tells us to go and make disciples. So let us go and share the love and the mercy of the One Triune God.

DID YOU KNOW? Talk to your teens about handling workplace violence Many teens will get their first job while still in high

school. Building a work ethic is a great and necessary

skill, but teens need to be informed to about how best to

handle possible workplace violence. Coworkers are not

always thoroughly screened, and your teen could face an-

other employee’s rage or anger that could possible put

them in danger. Talk to your teens about warning signs—

short tempers, intimidation, drug use—and about how to

remove themselves when they feel unsafe in a situation,

Celebramos la solemnidad de la

Santísima Trinidad este domingo.

Nosotros, los católicos, creemos en un

Dios en tres personas. Es un misterio que

estamos llamados a creer y vivir. La parte

final del Evangelio de Mateo nos da la

fórmula trinitaria cuando el Señor Le ordena a sus

discípulos que vayan al mundo entero y bauticen a la

gente en el nombre del Padre, del Hijo y del Espíritu

Santo. Mientras les da este mandato a sus discípulos,

también los llama a ellos y a todos nosotros a vivir

nuestra fe en la Trinidad a medida que vivimos nuestra

vida como una sola comunidad. Nuestro Señor estaba

muy de acuerdo con su mandamiento: "Amaos los

unos a los otros como yo te he amado". Estamos llama-

dos a vivir una vida de amor y comunión que sea uno

con Dios y con los demás. Es una gran señal de que

somos un pueblo de Pascua. Debemos vivir como una

comunidad de discípulos de Cristo. El Papa Francisco

haría énfasis en nuestro llamado como discípulos mi-

sioneros. Somos seguidores de Jesús con una misión.

El Señor nos dice que vayamos y hagamos discípulos.

Así que vamos a compartir el amor y la misericordia

de Un Dios Trino.
