Is God calling you to give loving, non-judgmental, Christ-like care to those in need? Please consider Stephen Ministry training that will begin in late September. Meeting weekly

for 2-2½ hours for several months, this in-depth training will help you in every day-to-day human interaction. Most

importantly, this training will equip you to listen and lend spiritual support. Stephen Ministry is grounded in Jesus’ command to love one another. A minimum of five persons is needed to host

this training. Please contact Rev. JoAn Kinrade ([email protected]) if you are interested.

NORTH GA ANNUAL CONFERENCE EAST AFRICA BRIDGE

Last month, I had the privilege to return to Kenya with the Bridge leadership team from our Conference and was able to build stronger relationships with

some pastors and laity that we met in 2013. While in Kenya, we visited several congregations, spent a day with the staff and participants of a youth empowerment ministry program, visited families in the slums and met with the twelve District Superintendents of the

UMC in Kenya and identified the specific needs of their districts. While the needs are great throughout the country, even greater is the joy, gratitude, and steadfast faith of our brothers &

sisters in Christ! During the next few months, our Conference team will be making plans with the Kenyan leaders to further develop our established Bridge. I will be determining specifically how Newnan FUMC can continue our partnership and work there. If you are interested in serving on

our 2016 Mission Team to Kenya, please let me know. I am eager to share details with you!

ULTIMATE “THANK YOU”

Thank you to all the people who helped in any way to pull together our best (& first)

ULTIMATE! What a blessing for over 400 church members & friends to laugh, be silly,

dunk David, eat some great BBQ, play games, worship, and fellowship together! AND the hurricane decided to leave us alone (which

makes me think even God wanted to see David get dunked)! BUT it could not have happened

without many hands helping prepare, setup, run activities, make cakes, and clean up. When I

announced in church that we needed volunteers and so many of you stood up, I knew that we were truly going to have an

ULTIMATE event! Special thanks to Sprayberry’s BBQ for catering a delicious

supper for everyone! –Karen Oothoudt
