The Ralph Verde Foundation is a non-profit organization created to
promote student achievement and academic excellence in memory of
Ralph Verde. Ralph was a senior at Yale University who was diagnosed
with a rare form of brain cancer at 22. He was a gifted, self-less, and
bright individual who believed education was the cherished means to any
goal. Salutatorian of his 2007 class at Passaic Valley High School, Ralph
accepted a full scholarship to Yale University where he was a Master’s Aid,
Club Soccer player, and active fraternity brother. As a testament of
Ralph’s altruistic nature, Ralph’s last wishes were to use the remainder of
his money to create a foundation that would assist students attending
college, similar to the help he received. Even though Ralph was taken
from us, his spirit and dedication to making a difference in this world lives
on. This foundation has been established in his memory to help further the
dreams and successes of others who are as ambitious, well-rounded, and
resilient as Ralph and demonstrate a strong commitment to making a
sustainable and lasting difference in the world.

The Prouty 2012 - Team Ralph
The Prouty started ten years after the Norris
Cotton Cancer Center opened its doors, in
1982, and four nurses cycled 100 miles
through the White Mountains of New
Hampshire to honor the courage and
strength of their patient Audrey Prouty in
her nine-year fight against ovarian cancer.
Such a fight is never easy, and in the spirit
of that fight, and in honor of Ralph, Johna
Paolina has decided to bike 50 miles in The
Prouty 2012.
In 2011, 4,872 participants, 1,150 volun-
teers and 164 businesses helped raise more
than $2,524,000 for the event in support for
the nationally-recognized cancer center. If
you are local to New Hampshire and want
to join Johna in her biking, or if you would
like to support team Ralph by donation,
contact her at [email protected].
Cycle for Survival - Team Ralph
Over $8million was raised this year for the
Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center
through its Cycle for Survival events held
nationwide. Team Ralph, headed by Jenni-
fer Shue, cycled in New York this year. If
you are interested
in participating
next year, email us
about your interest
of forming a team.
Valedictorian/
Salutatorian Breakfast
This year’s Passaic County breakfast hon-
oring more than 20 of the county’s Valedic-
torians and Salutatorians will be in memory
of Ralph. To learn more of the event or the
dedicatory “Ralph Verde Memorial Page,”
email [email protected].
The Ralph Verde Foundation is only as strong as its supporters.
