Introduction

Netilities compact and efficient tool to support the user with his PROFINET engineering and troubleshooting tasks It can generate a livePROFINET engineering and troubleshooting tasks. It can generate a live list of the PROFINET/Ethernet network and spot the devices which are in Data Exchange. Statistics provide an overview of the network

di i I ili h d d E h /WLAN h PCcondition. It utilizes the standard Ethernet/WLAN port on the PC or interfaces with a ProfiTap.

Important: due to switch technology, it is not possible to simply plug a cable into a switch and capture all PROFINET messages. A switch resends messages only to the appropriate port to which the receiver is g y pp p pconnected. This means that you will not see all messages if you connect to an empty port. You need to set up a mirror port, or use a ProfiTAPwhich creates a safe ‘mirror port’.which creates a safe  mirror port .

Getting started

Please make sure that the switch port to which the PROFINET controller is connected, is mirrored to an empty switch port. Connect the mirror portconnected, is mirrored to an empty switch port. Connect the mirror port to your laptop. If you do not have an empty port available for mirroring, or the switch does not support mirroring, you can use a ProfiTap.

Example of mirroring on a Siemens Scalance X208 switch:
