MISSOULA, Juse 27.—Jack Curtis, federal officer, was shot Wednesday afternoon, when he was going up a narrow eanyon hunting for a still. Two deputy sheriffs were with him, about 150 yards away. '< The bullet came from a rifle, about 100 yards from Mr. Curtis. He was brought to Missoula. He will recover. •" This is the fourth time Federal Of- ficer Curtis has been attacked from ambush. A year ago he was shot in the back at Arlee, last September, near the Canadian border, a rum run- shot at him from ambush, hittig him twice on the left side of the head and once in the left arm. federal officer, was shot Wednesday afternoon, when he was going up a narrow eanyon hunting for a still. Two deputy sheriffs were with him, about 150 yards away. '< The bullet came from a rifle, about 100 yards from Mr. Curtis. He was brought to Missoula. He will recover. •"
This is the fourth time Federal Officer Curtis has been attacked from ambush. A year ago he was shot in the back at Arlee, last September, near the Canadian border, a rum run-
shot at him from ambush, hittig him twice on the left side of the head and once in the left arm. Last May he was fired on during the night at Pablo and two bullets lodged in a building two feet from where Mr. Curtis was standing. A posse searched for the assailant of Wednesday but he has not been found.
