A church which pitches its tents without constantly looking out for new horizons,

which does not continually strike camp, is being untrue to its calling…

[We must] play down our longing for certainty, accept what is risky,

and live by improvisation and experiment.

CALL TO WORSHIP Psalm 96: 1-6

Leader: Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the whole earth. People: Sing to the Lord and bless the Lord’s name; proclaim the good news of salvation from day to day. Leader: Declare the glory of the Lord among the nations and the wonders of the Lord among all the peoples. People: For great is the Lord and greatly to be praised, more to be feared than all gods. Leader: As for all the gods of the nations, they are but idols; but it is the Lord who made the heavens. People: Oh, the majesty and magnificence of the presence of the Lord! Oh, the power and the splendor of the sanctuary of our God! Leader: Come, let us worship God.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION Leader and People

Eternal God of mercy, hear us as we confess our sin. Daily we awaken to the new life you give us,

yet we fail to be thankful for the rest we have received. Moments await our decision to serve you, yet time passes away as we think only of ourselves. Our routine affords us the chance to minister to others, yet we are absorbed with our own self-improvement. The day is soon passed; it has been much the same as the others. Forgive us for casting aside the precious time you have given. Amen.

SILENT REFLECTION AND CONFESSION OF SIN

PRAYER RESPONSE Spirit of the Living God Hymn 288

Spirit of the Living God, Fall afresh on me; Spirit of the living God, Fall afresh on me. Melt me, mold me, Fill me, use me. Spirit of the living God, Fall afresh on me.

Library Books A review of our shelves shows that we are missing a number of borrowed books from the BRPC Library. Perhaps some of these books have migrated to your shelves and have been overlooked? If so, please return them to the “Return Box” underneath the card catalog. No questions asked and no blame assessed, but the Librarian hopes that you found the re-source helpful and by returning it, you will give others access to this treasure. ~Dawn Domans, Librarian
