The Periodic Table of
What?!
Skinner: We can buy “real” periodic tables instead of these promotional ones from Oscar Meyer.
Krabappel: Who can tell me the atomic weight of bolognium?
Martin: Ooh ... delicious?
Krabappel: Correct. I would also accept snacktacular.
• In the late 19th century, Dmitri Mendeleev organized 60 seemingly random elements into a valuable scientific tool.
Your task, much like Mendeleev’s, is to organize a group of objects into something similar to a periodic table.
OrganizationAttempt to have at least 4 families (columns)
But no more than 6
Organization
And explained on your key
These families MUST be colour coded
OrganizationAttempt to have at least 4 periods (rows)
But no more than 6
OrganizationThese rows do not need to be colour coded
But this arrangement
must be explained on your key
You need to explain how you’ve organized these
Familiesand
Periods.
*Most internet examples are not organized with this complexity.
You need a “Key” to explain the cells.

If you are having difficulty coming up with one (or both) of the numbers,
please pick a different topic!
One method of creating your cells…
1. Create a “rough draft” on paper
2. Using “word”, create a TEXT BOX
3. Design one cell in this TEXT BOX

Print, colour and cut out when you’re ready
Your final version might have a similar shape to the real periodic table of the elements
it might have a more rectangular shape
or it may have it’s own unique shape.
By the end of this week, five full classes, your project should be done.

This week will go by quickly,
