The Pareto (80/20)Principle – Maximizing Your Talent!
Matthew 25:29 For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away.
1
The Pareto Principle: The Vital Few
• The Pareto (80/20) Principle provides the means to improve your effectiveness in life by identifying the few things life that matter and then focus on them.
• 80% of success comes from 20% of your effort.• 80% of business profit from 20% of customers. • 80% of church income from 20% of members.• 80% of the clothes we wear actively are from
20% of the clothes in our closets.

The Pareto Principle: Max Your Talent!
• Matthew 25: 1st servant (11 of 15) 73%, 2nd 4 of 15 (27%) and the 3rd servant had (0 of 15) 0%.
• Important to identify the few things that really matter to your success and focus on them
• Judges 7:1-7 Gideon reduced the size of his army from 32,000 to 300 and still won the battle. What excess baggage are you carrying in your life?
• Don’t bury your talent. Instead, use it based on your purpose.
3
The Pareto Principle: Time and Focus!
• Law of Focus: Progress will made in the area of your life which you give undivided attention. The degree of discipline that you exercise determines the level of YOUR success.
• Managing Time: The 3 servants had same amount of time. Ecc 3:1 “To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven.” We ALL have enough time to accomplish divine purpose. Eph 5:15-16 See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time.

The Pareto Principle:Be Purpose driven
• Exodus 18:13-21 Moses thought being busy was same as being effective until Jethro, his father-in-law corrected him.
• 1 Corinthians 9:24 Run in a race to win the prize not to participate
• You need to focus on your purpose: Make a concise list of the top 5 things you do. Ask of each one, if I stop doing this, will it affect me adversely.
• Why is that important? The law of focus states that progress will be made in the areas of your life which you give undivided attention.
5
The Pareto Principle: Process takes time!
• HOPE is NOT a strategy. Positive thinking alone will not help you achieve your purpose.
• Success usually requires effort and takes time to materialize.
• It took Joseph 13 years from his dream to his palace.
• It took Isaac 20 years to give birth but he had twins.
6
The Pareto Principle: Initiate rather than react!
• Are you a leader or a follower? Do you use your initiative like the first 2 servants or do you wait for things to happen?
• Initiate React• Lead: Call Listen: Wait for call• Spend time planning Spend time living day to day• Anticipate problems React to problems• Fill calendar with priorities Fill your calendar with
requests

The Pareto Principle: The God of 2nd Chance!
• If you want to make the most of your life, you’ve got to make the best of your TALENT and TIME.
• When you identify your priorities and focus on them, it makes the DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BEING ORDINARY AND EXTRA ORDNINARY.
• Stop being BUSY and start being EFFECTIVE!• The Master did not give the 3rd servant a 2nd chance, but
OUR God is a God of second chance! John 10:10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly!
