Breathing Room

Ahhhh... finally... breathing room.

It is so nice having some breathing room. With the youth and education space at the Downtown campus finished, we finally have some breathing space. Thank

you again to everyone who worked so hard, contributed so much, prayed so long for this wonderful space.

You didn't really notice how crammed in everything was. Desks and books and tables and chairs. And bodies. Bodies everywhere. And we were cramming in

more and more all the time. Just in the youth room, one hundred bodies in a space designed for maybe thirty-five.

Now there's room for breathing. For breath. For the breath of God, the Spirit.

The Spirit, of course, works in all kinds of quarters. It's we who need the space to experience his movement in our lives. Room to flow, and reflect, to dance and

to grow. Room to breathe in deeply.

So often, though, we just keep cramming more and more in until we get

exhausted, burned out, or broke.

This month in worship we are going to be talking about Breathing Room. The importance of breathing room in every aspect of our lives. In our schedules, in

our relationships, in our budgets.

Build in some breathing room in your life in October - make some space and time

for the Breath of God. Join us Sundays at 9:00 or 10:30 AM.

5 PERSONAL TRANSFORMATION

Join us for "The Story" This is the year for you to experience The Story of the Bible. Throughout this

academic year, we will be carefully selecting verses from the Bible that are organized chronologically. From Genesis to Revelation, you will come to

understand God’s story and how your stories intersect with it. Join us each

Wednesday evening at 6:15 p.m. beginning September 25 at our Downtown Campus with a large group presentation on a portion of the Bible by Pastor Tim

and Pastor Todd. Then a smaller group discussion will follow from 6:45-7:45 p.m. Stories like God creating the world or David becoming the King of Israel or

Jesus and His final days. You don't need to be a Bible scholar to attend. All you

need is an open heart ready to learn and experience God in and through THE STORY.

COMMUNITY GROUPS and GROUPLINK SEPTEMBER 29th! There is a BIG event happening to kick

off all existing, former, and future small groups. If you are currently in a small

group, we want your whole small group to come. If you were in a small group

and that just didn't work out for whatever

reason, we want you to give it another try and come. If you are interested in getting into a small group

because you hear us constantly talking about how we live life together, we want you to come.

Here's the plan.

Everyone will meet in the new youth room downtown on Sunday, September

29th at 4:30 p.m. We will have dinner together at 5:00 p.m. We are going to provide 2 childcare rooms...nursery for young ones and a classroom with a movie

option for older ones. At 5:30 p.m. we are going to hear from some people about what exactly this "community group" thing is and how it's impacted their

lives. Pastor Todd will give an overview as well. At 6:00 p.m. the current small groups will be dismissed...to either meet as a group and begin their small group

study OR go home. If you have a small group that is open to new members,

then perhaps you could stick around and invite someone there to join you. The new people will get a great book that will walk them through very simple ways to

get to know the rest of the group and start to build those relationships.

We need your commitment to come so please sign up with number attending from your family by September 23rd. The Community Group team consists of

Shari Puckett, Nicole Hansen, Tom Oscanyan and Cheri Buelow. Contact any of these people for more information. We are looking for current small groups to

provide food as well as some volunteers to share your small group story.

As the new Connections Coordinator, Cheri Buelow will be very involved in

community group ministry because this is where people get connected.

"It's a beautiful thing when you have friends who really care about what's going on in your life. They touch base with you. They are there for you. You learn from each other. You laugh (and sometimes cry) together. This is the essence of community groups. We were created for this."

Our new member class is

getting a makeover! The pastors along with the new

connections coordinator, Cheri Buelow have created a new format with three

parts. It is our desire to make

becoming a member an easy, yet beneficial experience. Here are the 3

parts:

DISCOVER - This is a "Google" experience for those searching for

more information about Trinity.

CONNECT - This is a "Wikipedia" experience for those who want to

learn more detail about Trinity.

JOIN - This is a "Linkedin" experience for those who are ready to commit to

the ministry of Trinity.

So how does it work?

DISCOVER - Join us for coffee after a worship service and hear a brief

overview of our mission/vision. We

will answer ANY questions you may have at this introductory gathering

(30 minutes). Date: Sunday, October 6th (11:30 at FC and 10

and 11:30 DT)

CONNECT - Attend a 90 minute class

on two consecutive Thursdays to learn more about the ministry of Trinity, the

staff and programs, your own spiritual gifts, and volunteer opportunities.

These classes will also help you get to know others in the group. Dates:

Thursday, October 10th from 6:30-

8 p.m. at our Family Center Campus.

Thursday, October 17th from 6:30-8 p.m. at our Downtown Campus.

JOIN - Here is where you sign a

covenant with our church and get introduced to the congregation as a

new, valued, and loved member. Date: Sunday, October. 20th (both

campuses, both 9 and 10:30 services)

Please contact the church office (715.386.9313) to register or go online

to www.trinityhudson.org (Click "Where Do I Start?" under the Welcome tab).

Let us know if you will need childcare during your CONNECT class times.

INSPIRATIONAL WORSHIP 6

OCTOBER SERIES: "Breathing Room" It seems that life gets busier and our schedules fill up to

the top. The problem is we don't operate with any margin in our lives. But what would it look like if we

Pastors Appreciation Sunday is October 27 Please take some time to tell our pastors how much they are appreciated.

Was there a sermon that really hit home for you?

Was there a word spoken that encouraged you?

What is it that you admire about our pastors?

Leadership? Wisdom? Humor? Bible knowledge?

Those of us at Trinity are blessed to have such a complimentary team of pastors. These are hard working and dedicated men. Often what we see is the polished Sunday morning preacher, but behind the scenes these guys deal with everything

from buildings and budgets to committees and constitutions. If you stop and think about the fact that we are a 2300

member church with 80 employees, two sites, a childcare, preschool, elementary and middle school, you can start to imagine the magnitude and complexity of the job of a pastor at Trinity. They never look for recognition, but they certainly

deserve a gesture of thanks from all of us for all they do for our families, for our church, and for the Lord. We will have baskets at each site for a card or gift on October 27th. Your words DO lift them up, and your prayers are GREATLY

appreciated all year long as well.

safe way to celebrate for our church, our kids and our community!

2013 Halloween Outreach

Thursday, October 31, 6 p.m. Whether you celebrate Halloween or not, Halloween is a great opportunity to reach out to our local community here in Hudson, and give the community an opportunity to experience Trinity’s hospitality and show the love of Christ to our

neighbors! For the past few years Trinity has sponsored an outreach event for local trick or treaters and their families. We utilize the downtown location because downtown Hudson is known as one of the best Trick or Treat areas in the St. Croix

Valley and there are a ton of little kids from all over that are in the area!

We at Trinity provide our “warm gym” with games that children and youth can play and win candy! There will be several activities

this year and the Trinity youth group will be hosting this event! We are also looking for candy donations. If you are able to assist in any way, please let Brandon Perry know at (715) 441-4193, or at [email protected]

Be Christ to Someone in Need "I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was

naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me... As often as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you did it to me. (Matthew 25)

All around us people are hurting and hungry and in need of caring. You can be the answer to their prayers. You can be

Christ to them.

Join Trinity's Care Ministry.

There are three ways to be involved.

1. Come to the Caring Ministry Retreat weekend on Friday, October 25, from 6:30-9:30 PM and Saturday, October 26, from 8:00 AM-5:00 PM at the Downtown campus. We will be learning about listening, using Christian resources in caring for

someone, setting boundaries so you don't get burned out, helping people through crises, confidentiality, and helping people

in various needs. This retreat will be helpful for anyone who is caring for someone else or who wants to serve more formally as a Trinity Caring Visitor.

2. Sign up to be a Trinity Caring Visitor. This is the other way you can be involved in caring. We have many people who are going through hard times who just need someone to come alongside them, listening and caring on a regular basis. No

special qualifications - just a caring heart and listening ears. We will even train and otherwise help you in the Retreat on October 25 and 26 (see above), and in monthly Care Topic evenings.

3. Care Topics. Once a month starting in January we will be hosting Care Topic evenings. Each month we will have a

speaker or forum focused on a topic in caregiving. Sometimes it will be a skill that is helpful in caring for others, and sometimes it will be ideas about caring for people who are going through particular kinds of things. Everyone in the

congregation and community will be welcome to this continuing education in caring. 4. Care Ministry Questionnaire. If you haven't already, please fill out a Care Ministry Questionnaire. They are available at the

Welcome Center at each campus or online through our website, www.trinityhudson.org. Your input will help us to further

refine the Care Ministry so everyone's prayers are answered and no one falls through the cracks.

For more information on Trinity's Care Ministry, please contact Pastor Tim Booth ([email protected]/715-441-9383) or Deacon Linda Hartung ([email protected]/(715) 531-0896).

Board, and one member of the Nominations Committee. The agenda will also include an update of the current fiscal position

Pastor Tim, and Carl Schoenbeck. If you would like to nominate someone or would like to serve yourself, please contact the church office or members of the committee.

Help - Thanks - Wow

Help Thanks Wow: The Three Essential Prayers is the title of a book by Anne LaMott. The title can also be used for

members of Trinity as we begin the month of October looking at the many facets of our ministry together.

Help: Our prayer at this time of year is that our Lord would help us see His hand in all that we do so that we may work together to effectively build each other up and spread His love to all, help our many ministries by providing the volunteers

we need to effectively serve our families and the families of our community, and help us grow in unity as His people.

Thanks: We give our Lord thanks for the many blessings He gives us daily in our personal lives and in our life as members of Trinity, thanks for the elected members of our Board of Directors, Trinity Academy Advisory Board, and Nominations

committee, and thanks for the many volunteers that serve others through our many ministries.

WOW: As we dedicated our new building and expansion project we give all praise to Him who made it reality by using the

“Imagine Campaign” to provide the funds and led members to give countless volunteer hours of service to complete the project. -WOW - We are amazed and give praise to our Lord as we see the growth and impact of the many facets of the

dynamic ministry together at Trinity -WOW- We are amazed at the skills, experience, knowledge, and commitment of those He has gathered together in our Trinity faith community. -WOW !!

Staff Person of the Month Each month in the Trinity newsletter, we will highlight a staff member. This is a great way for the

congregation to get to know us a little bit better. This month we are highlighting staff member Gayle Brooks.

1) Describe your position and give a brief description. My position is Human Resources Associate. I handle a variety of processes related to all employees within Trinity.

2) What did you do before? For about 10 years I was a stay-at-home mom. Before that I spent a “bunch” of years doing accounting for small businesses, which often crossed over into HR functions.

3) What are the joys of your job? I love getting to know, and working with ALL of the employees. My job takes me beyond the boundary of my office into all departments and locations that Trinity manages. To me, the variety of people and talents I see working here makes my day enjoyable and rewarding.

4) What positives do you see about the total Trinity Ministry? Trinity is about “others”. The congregation and staff are always looking for ways to help other people, to draw them in, closer to Christ. I noticed this with my very first contact with Pastor Tim back in 2005. I continue to see it on a daily basis, both through my job, in the amazing women I’ve met through small-group study, and in all of the volunteers I see working tirelessly to accomplish God’s work.

5) How do you see God working here at Trinity? All I have to do is think about the Academy when my daughter started Kindergarten in 2005. I believe there were about 85 students at the time. Eight years later there are more than twice that number of students in K-8. I doubt that many schools expect that type of expansion. People can’t make that happen on their own. God instills that need, that desire, to place one’s children into a Christian school environment. He also gives our staff the talents, gifts and LOVE to serve those children once they’re here. Those gifts, talents and the desire to use them don’t stop at the Academy, but permeate throughout the organization. THAT is God working through us. Soli Deo Gloria. For Glory to God Alone!

GLOBAL COMPASSION 10

Did you know that Jesus gave us a template through which we can organize our mission focus? In Acts 1:8, He said, "You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and to the ends of the earth." Jesus was thinking in concentric circles

and so translated to Trinity, we will be His witnesses in Hudson, the Twin Cities, the United States and the ends of the earth. We currently have outreach opportunities here in Hudson through We Do Feet and others, in the Twin Cities with our

partnership with Trinity First and Feed My Starving Children, in the United States with our Youth and other teams serving

outside of our area. There isn't anything on the books yet for "the ends of the earth", but we are working on it. If you have ideas, please let Pastor Todd know.
