Landscape:

• Two shipyards dominate the regular shipbuilding landscape in The Netherlands: Damen Shipyards and Royal IHC

• In the offshore maintenance segment there is Singapore owned Keppel Verolme(Rotterdam), in the regular main player is shiprepair Damen Shiprepair

• The Dutch super yacht sector has witnessed a remarkable increase over the past five years. The main yacht builders capable of building 100+ meter yachts are Feadship(Royal De Vries and Royal Van Lent) and Oceanco.

• Small to medium sized shipyards are:

– Newbuilding: Ferus Smit, De Hoop, Veka Group and Royal Bodewes

– Ship repair: Niestern Sander (owned by ship owner Wagenborg)

Largest ship in the world being finished in Rotterdam, www.allseas.com. This € 2.4 blndouble hull ship is ordered by Swiss/Dutch Allseas’ owner Edward Heerema. Size 382 * 124 meters, with lifting capacity of 48,000 tons. Functionality: one stop decommissioning jackets and topsides, heavy pipelaying operations. Allseas announcedan even bigger ship with 72,000 tons lifting capacity, no further details yet.
