Live, Love, and Serve in the Image of Christ
The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ
I S .T O banquet most precious! O banquet most admirable! O banquet overflowing with every spiritual
delicacy! Can anything be more excellent than this repast, in which not the flesh of goats and heifers, as of old, but Christ the true God is given us for nourishment? What more wondrous than this holy
sacrament! In it bread and wine are changed substantially, and under the appearance of a little bread and wine is had Christ Jesus, God and perfect Man. In this sacrament sins are purged away, virtues are
increased, the soul is satiated with an abundance of every spiritual gift. No other sacrament is so beneficial. Since it was instituted unto the salvation of all, it is offered by Holy Church for the living
and for the dead, that all may share in its treasures. Excerpted from The Church's Year of Grace, Pius Parsch.

My Friends in Christ:
ELECTRONIC GIVING As summer begins, I know that many of you will be vacationing at the shore, mountains or other places. For those traveling, I respectfully ask you to consider electronic giving to continue your financial support of our Parish. I am so grateful for those that already use this method of giving, especially during the summer months.
I am including in this week’s bulletin the instructions for electronic giving. We use the services of “Parish Giving.” It is a website that allows you to automate your parish donations. The directions for setting up your account with Parish Giving are clear and simple. If, however, you have any questions, please contact our Parish Business Manager, Deacon David Mitchell (215-822-0179, [email protected]) at the rectory and he can guide you through the process. Thank you for considering this request to support the parish through electronic giving, present. God bless! Enjoy this beautiful summer.

Pastor’s Column June 23, 2019 The Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of
Christ, historically known by its Latin name, Corpus Christi, celebrates the Real Presence of
Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist — Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity.
READ this Catholic children's book which discusses the Sacrament of Holy Communion. This engaging story of a young child about to receive his or her First Holy Communion is sure to delight any elementary-age child. Children and parents alike will love this book because it teaches
the Faith using the most powerful teaching method around: story-telling
LISTEN to Dr. Scott Hahn reveal the early Christians' key to understanding the Mass: the Book of Revelation. With its bizarre imagery, mystic visions of Heaven, and end-times prophecies, it mirrors the sacrifice and celebration of
the Holy Eucharist. See the Mass with new eyes, pray the Liturgy with a renewed heart, and enter into the Mass more fully and enthusiastically
Watch Segment 6: The Spirit and the Eucharist from The
Wild Goose Series. The Eucharistic liturgy is saturated with the presence of the Holy Spirit. From the moment you decide to go to Mass the Holy Spirit is active and alive. Sadly, many people don’t experience the Holy Spirit, and attending Mass becomes a chore for them rather than a life giving encounter with Jesus. In this segment we will look at a few of the many ways that the Holy Spirit is present in the Mass that will enable you to encounter God when you attend the Liturgy
STUDY: What is it that is so special about the Eucharist? Although the Eucharist appears to be simple bread and wine, it is actually the “source and summit”
of the Christian life. Presence: The Mystery of the Eucharist explores the truth and beauty of Christ’s real presence in the Eucharist, from its origins in Sacred Scripture, to its profound role in the life of the Church and her members. It is the crescendo of the entire story of salvation.

Give a Gift of Hope Since the year 2000, Bethlehem has been getting worse due to the unstable political situation causing poverty among Christians still living in the Holy Land. People have turned to rely heavily on the Olive Wood Business and it is now the
main income of many Bethlehem families. What once was a heavy tourist area is not anymore due to fear. So now we must travel to keep our income afloat.
On The 29th and 30th June, the Shepherds will display carvings after all Masses at St. Jude Parish.
The revenue generated helps to restore justice to an oppressed Palestinian Christian minority, supports over 300 families of skilled carvers and helps in keeping a Christian presence in the Holy Land. Your purchase, however small or big, will also provide an opportunity to own or give as gifts original folk art from Bethlehem.

Our final total school Mass of the school year on Friday, June 14th, was filled with enthusiasm and joy as
our first-grade students led us in song and prayer! The excitement of our "almost second graders" was contagious as they shared their love of God in their role as leaders in the liturgy. Monsignor Beach celebrated the Mass and in his homily, reminded us that "There is no vacation from God". Our newly elected President of Student Council, Ava Kolp, introduced our new theme for 2019-2020:
"At St. Jude School, We Have 2020 Vision! We see ‘Sunshine’ in each other and make a difference in our world!" With huge smiles and shouts of joy, our students began their summer vacation, filled with God's blessings and love.
Welcome to Father David O'Brien! We are delighted that St. Jude Parish will be your first place of ministry as an ordained priest following the will of God for your life. We look forward to sharing the exciting adventures that lie ahead!
Thank you to all who have supported St. Jude School throughout another wonderful year! God bless your goodness and generosity.

What is the Flame of Love Rosary? It is a special Rosary given by Jesus and Mary to a Hungarian woman named Elizabeth Kindlemann. Jesus and Mary promised among other things, that they would cleanse the world from the evil that exists and blind Satan with the prayers said during this Rosary. They also promised an infusion of graces to those who pray the Rosary.
A plenary indulgence is attached to praying the Rosary with the accompanying prayers which takes about 45 minutes of time. Archbishop Charles Chaput has put his imprimatur on the book that accompanies this devotion, to promote it in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. This Rosary is now being prayed all over the world.
The Flame of Love Rosary is prayed in the chapel here at St. Jude parish on Monday evenings at 7 pm and on the first and fourth Wednesday of the month at 4 pm. All are cordially invited to join us whenever possible as we pray the Flame of Love Rosary for world peace and purification.

The Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, historically known by its Latin name, Corpus Christi, celebrates the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist—Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity. It is tradi-tionally celebrated on the Thursday following the Solemnity of the Holy Trinity. The feast dates to the Middle Ag-es and originated with a visionary nun and a Eucharistic miracle.
In 1263 a German priest, Fr. Peter of Prague, made a pilgrimage to Rome. He stopped in Bolsena, Italy, to cele-brate Mass at the Church of St. Christina. At the time he was having doubts about Jesus being truly present in the Blessed Sacrament. He was affected by the growing debate among certain theologians who, for the first time in the history of the Church, began introducing doubts about the Body and Blood of Christ being actually present in the consecrated bread and wine. In response to his doubt, when he recited the prayer of consecration as he celebrated the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, blood started seeping from the consecrated host and onto the altar and corporal.
Fr. Peter reported this miracle to Pope Urban IV, who at the time was nearby in Orvieto. The pope sent delegates to investigate and ordered that host and blood-stained corporal be brought to Orvieto. The relics were then placed in the Cathedral of Orvieto, where they remain today.
This Eucharistic Miracle confirmed the visions given to St. Juliana of Mont Cornillon in Belgium (1193-1258). St. Juliana was a nun and mystic who had a series of visions in which she was instructed by Our Lord to work to es-tablish a liturgical feast for the Holy Eucharist, to which she had a great devotion.
After many years of trying, she finally convinced the bishop, the future Pope Urban IV, to create this special feast in honor of the Blessed Sacrament, where none had existed before. Soon after her death, Pope Urban instituted Corpus Christi for the Universal Church and celebrated it for the first time in Orvieto in 1264, a year after the Eu-charistic Miracle in Bolsena.
Inspired by the miracle, Pope Urban commissioned a Dominican friar, St. Thomas Aquinas, to compose the Mass and Office for the feast of Corpus Christi. Aquinas’ hymns in honor of the Holy Eucharist, Pange Lingua, Tantum Ergo, Panis Angelicus, and O Salutaris Hostia are the beloved hymns the Church sings on the feast of Corpus Christi as well as throughout the year during Exposition and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.
