Return or ReintegrationThor was on a quest to the land of the giants.

He stays at a farmers house and kills his sheep for the meal. As they eat the goats one of the farmers children crack open the leg bone of one the goats and eats the marrow. When Thor brings the sheep back to life he realizes that one of them has a limp. Thor demands to know who is responsible and then takes the famers children to be his slaves as compensation.

Uncomfortable PlaceOn the way to giant land, Thor encounters a

giant named Skymir. Skymir agrees to take Thor and his servants to the giant camp. Thor gets easily aggravated by Skymir because he snores so loud. Thor gets up and strikes him in the head with Mjölnir. Thor strikes him three times.

Call to AdventureWhen they arrive to the camp Thor professes

that one of his servants can beat the fastest giant in a foot race. The boy loses every time, the giant is so fast that it turns around to meet the boy.

Refusal or DenialThor gets challenged to a drinking contest by

the chief giant.The challenge was to drink a horn of ale in

one swig.Thor tried three times before the level in the

horn went down.

Testing Allies and Enemies Thor had one of his servants race one of the

giants.He also was challenged three times.

Approach and Preparation Thor is challenged again by doing feats that

no one else has accomplished before.

The Ordeal/TrialsThor wrestles with an old lady, that is the

lead giants mother.Thor has to lift a huge cat off the ground.

RewardThor wasn’t defeated by the old lady, his knee

just touched the ground.Thor lifted a paw of the great cat.

Road Back to EmergenceThe lead giant tells Thor what the tests

meant.The horn that Thor drank from wasn’t ale, it

was magically connected to the ocean and Thor actually changed the tides.

The old lady was really old age and Thor was defeated by it.

The big cat was actually the snake that wraps itself around the world and Thor lifted its head off the ground.

ResurrectionAfter the lead giant tells Thor what was done,

the giants disappear.

The death of hector

Return or ReintegrationHector decides to stand his ground against

angered Achilles. Angered Achilles fight the Trojan army and

is distracted by Apollo

Uncomfortable placeHectors parents plead for hector to return

into the city.

Call to adventure Hector and achillus see each other.

Page 19: The Monomyth Process

Refusal or denialHector becomes afraid of Achilles and runs

away from the fight.Achilles chases hector

Meeting a mentor Jupiter and Apollo were protecting Hector,

but Juppiter decides to weigh the two heroes fates. Iupitter sends Athena to hector.

Athena hides here self as hector brother causing hector to make a stand and fight hector

Crossing the threshold Achilles and hector fightHector ends up dying

Testing allies and enemiesAs hector is dying he asks Achilles to return his

body to his family.

Approach and preparationAchilles denies dying hector of his request.Achilles taughted dying Hector

Page 24: The Monomyth Process

The ordeal/trailAchilles has his soldiers stab hectors dead

body.Achilles ties Hectors dead body to a chariot

and drags him around the city.

Page 25: The Monomyth Process

Reward Achilles avenges the death of his friend

Patroclus in a very violent fashion.

Page 26: The Monomyth Process

Road block or emergence The Trojans and some of the Greeks see

Achilles as wrong.

Page 27: The Monomyth Process

Resurrection King Priam sneaks to Achilles tent at night

and convinces Achilles to return hectors body.Achilles gives the body back and the fighting

stops for a day then the war continues.
