Transcript of the MESSENGER - St. John Lutheran...lesson by Randy Frazee, author of The Story, with follow up...
The week after that, we’ll celebrate again,
this time with the Boerne Village Band
at the late service on October 21st. The
Band always brings an extra level of
energy and joy to our worship, and you’ll
want to be a part of it. Then stay for the
Community Forum with the architects
to enjoy a catered meal, share your
insights and opinions, and shape
the new plan for our buildings
and facilities.
Even as we look ahead to
the future, we remember
the past. All Saints’
Sunday is November 4th.
It’s a time to remember
loved ones who have died
in the past year. If you’d like
to commemorate your loved
one and have their name read during
the worship service, please submit a
completed form to the church office by
the end of the month.
The Story has got us off to a great start.
It’s October and we’re up and running.
Come and join us, come and celebrate
with us, come shape the future and
remember the past – come and be a
part!

The Story has started and we’re off to a
great start! You can feel the energy and
excitement in our church as we read,
preach, and study God’s Word together.
Things will get even more exciting
on October 7th when Pastor Randy
Frazee will be the guest preacher at all
three of our services. All of you should
recognize his name as the man
who compiled The Story.
Many of you will recognize
him from the DVD studies
in our adult Sunday
School classes. Come
and see him in person
on Sunday, October 7th
– and bring your friends.
Speaking of friends, if you
or someone you know has been
thinking about joining our church, now is
the time. Our New Member classes start
October 14th. There’s more information
in this newsletter and online. Take that
next step of faith. I encourage you to join
us and become a member of St. John
Lutheran, and I hope you can come and
join us later that same day for our annual
Congregational Picnic. You don’t want
to miss this opportunity to kick back and
relax with your church family. Tickets are
on sale now.
MESSENGERthe
Care for CreationFrom the very beginning, God - the creator of the universe and everything in it – was providing for us – His most precious creation. He gave us dominion over all creatures. He provided food for us to eat. God loved us and wanted us to delight in what He had made.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t long until we messed it up by bringing sin into the world. Today, things aren’t as perfect as they once were (think mosquitoes, cactus, fire ants, disease). However, we still have God’s creation to enjoy and
What a great start to The Story! I am talking about our sermon series for the next school year, of course. Isn’t it great, how the Sunday School materials are tailored for each age group? Along with the rest of the adults, I study the adult materials. But I also enjoy the materials for my grandchildren; each has different materials, since they are in different age groups. And I especially enjoy the artwork for the children, it adds so much to The Story.
Switching gears, let’s talk about an important meeting on October 21. On that Sunday, after late service,
care for. From incredible sunsets to scenic landscapes to amazing wildlife to changing leaves in the Fall – we should take time to appreciate it. Our responsibility is to be good stewards of the earth and everything in it – land, water, animals, plants. We should keep a heart of respect, thankfulness, and reverence, and remember that we are caretakers, not the owners. We should
we will gather for a luncheon in the Family Life Center. Then we will spend a few hours in a Community Forum. This important meeting is the first milestone in our Facilities Master Plan update, so I encourage all members to attend. We will examine various parts of our campus, and identify future requirements. You can begin thinking now about which area has the most interest for you. Is it the Sanctuary, Family Life Center, Gathering Place, Historic Chapel, kitchen, or something else? We will all spend some quality time discussing these various topics. Please make your plan to join us.
also care for each other, since God made all of us in His image.
Stewardship is not only about giving time, talents, and treasure to the church. It is also about looking after what God has provided for us.
Your Brother in Christ,Kyle Gass, ChairSt John Lutheran Stewardship Committee
Along with our architect, we will use all the information from the Community Forum to take the next steps in the process. This is a creative, exploratory time for us. None of the decisions have been made yet. No agendas have been formed. The process is thoughtful and prayerful. Through our collective wisdom and discernment, I am confident that St John will have an updated Facility Master Plan that reflects our deep understanding of God’s will for our congregation.
