“Move Forward & Look
Around”
Well, this month marks my official one year anniversary serving the First Christian Church as Senior Pastor. I know when we began this journey neither of us
were fully clear of all the things God intended for us to accomplish together. Throughout the last 365 days I believe some of Gods plans for our union has progressively been revealed, in light of the various ministry initiatives we have achieved. As I looked forward to the future, seeking Gods insight for future direction; I was drawn to the actions of Jesus Christ while he journeyed with his disciples. It’s no secret Jesus’ major agenda was the establishment and fulfillment of Gods kingdom and kingdom principles on the earth. However, during his missionary journey, Jesus never lost sight of the equally important assignment of taking care of self, and others! Many times our lives and ministry agendas causes us to move at rapid speed. We begin to operate on auto pilot, or with tunnel vision; only seeing what’s in front of us. Taking the necessary moments to stop and care for ourselves and others gradually take a back seat to “more important” responsibilities. Jesus’ actions dictate, both our success and endurance require a necessary balance between our work, our rest, and our observation of others. As we continue moving forward, we must remain diligent about the work God has assigned for our ministry. However, we must also be equally intentional to care for ourselves and those around us. Take the necessary moments to rest and rejuvenate to help reconnect with the divine. Likewise, as we “Move Forward” we must also intentionally “Look around” and build our awareness of other aspects of Gods’ creation. Operating on auto pilot will cause us to begin neglecting the larger picture God is developing right in our midst. Genesis 4:9 states, “Then the Lord said to Cain, “Where is your brother Abel?” He said, “I do not know; am I my brother’s keeper?” 10 And the Lord said, “What have you done?...”

OUTREACH
Cub Scout Pack 442:
What an exciting month it has been! We had our Blue and Gold and
a wonderful Cross Over service. We also had our first adult team
meeting to begin to plan for NEXT year! In addition to that, we have
an exciting summer scheduled with fishing, camping, a trip to an
observatory and the first part of the Gettysburg Hike scheduled. If
you would like to tag along, just talk to Diana!
We are gearing up for our huge camping trip in May! We
will also have our awards and bridging ceremony on May
25th at 6:30. We would love to have you join us. We are
finishing up some work on our Silver and Bronze awards
and the rest of our badges. This summer we will still be active, and
looking forward to joining the cub scouts keeping the Giving Shed full
and doing other community service projects too!
“Giving Shed”
Check out the NEW “GIVING SHEDS”!
Thanks to Tommy & Molly Kelly, we will
now be able to provide nonperishable food
and personal care items to the community!
The Cub Scout Pack 442, First Christian
Church Girl Scouts, and FCC members will
be working to keep it well stocked and
available for use! The kids had a great time
building them too! Donations of
Nonperishable food and personal care items
would be greatly appreciated! You can add
them directly to the shed if you would like,
or give them to Diana Onstott on Sunday
mornings.

Memorial Day Worship Service
On Sunday, May 28th we will be honoring our service men
and women who have sacrificed their lives for the safety and
protection of our country. This is a great time of pay tribute to
those individuals in your family.
Mothers Day is Sunday May 14, 2017
Mothers come in many different packages! Join us as we honor the lives and memory of
moms, grand moms, aunts, sisters, and caregivers who’ve taken on the responsibility of
nurturing, loving, and supporting us throughout our lives.
“Raise your Voice, Raise Awareness”
Mental Health Awareness Sunday
May 28, 2017
Throughout the Month of May Pastor D. Marie will engage
in a sermon series centered around mental health topics. On
the last Sunday of the month join us with your family,
friends, and caregivers too for a special mental health
worship service, as a show of solidarity and support of our loved ones living with mental
health challenges. We are striving to create a safe worship atmosphere free of stigma that
empowers others to raise their voices and raise awareness, for all of Gods children!
We are called to be compassionate, rejoice in hope, care for the needs of others, and
weep with those who weep...Romans 12:9-15
