JUNE’S DILEMMA Here is the question: After waiting six months for a change in seasons, the weather has been so drastic lately; would we be better off skipping June and moving right into July? At least in July we know what to expect; the AC is running all the time, the sunglasses are on our heads ready to flip down, and vacation time is here for the kids. Now I’m not proposing we do away with June, just incorporating the days into May and July. There would some advantages, spring would be longer, and there would be more days for vacations. NO! I guess that won’t work. What would we do with all the graduations, weddings, and other June events that we look forward to each year? (like Flag Day and Father’s Day) Here is the real dilemma: When June gets here we are tired of the same routine and are looking for a change. We are restless about becoming stuck in a rut, and are yearning to explore new adventures. We want to have different experiences that are so free and unrestricted that we will abandon the usual to find the unusual. WELL, let me suggest some interesting things to brighten your June days: First: Visit a different place of worship - that could mean in another town, state, or country. It might even include a different faith tradition! Oh, yes, it could be fun and inspiring to praise God in a new way. Second: Dust off the Bible and play a search and find game with God. You open the Bible to any page and let God direct you to the verse or verses that will change your thoughts for that day. Third: Find your own “scared ground” – the place where you can sit or stand or walk in silence and listen to the sounds that God makes. (or doesn’t make as Elijah discovered –I Kings 19:12) Fourth and lastly: Make every effort to thank God for the blessings you/we have. Simple as that may seem, you just have to look around to see how much God continues to protect and provide for our needs. Taking to the time to say “Thank you” is an easy exercise to add to our June workout. It will keep reminding us that June does have it’s own purpose in the year. Fr Bob

Holly Fair Update \

With only 186 days until our 41st Holly Fair every effort

is being made to get things ready earlier so the crunch

doesn’t stress us out as we get closer to the Fair.

We have submitted our renewal for the Tricky Tray and

we’ll be good for two more years when we get it back. As

we stated before, the Tricky Tray will be in the gym this

year so the whole setup will be a bit different if not

altogether challenging. Exciting plans are being

formulated as to how we will pull this off.

For our Crafters: Progress is being made and we would

like to remind everyone to please help if you could in

collecting some of the supplies we need. Thanks to

generous donations we have all the dishcloths and wash

cloths we think we need. If you have already gotten some

for us and have not brought them in we will use them.

1. Please save your burned out light bulbs. The smaller,

the better.

2. We also need clear glass plates - any size and shape

(wait ‘til you see what we do with these - provided they

turn out …)

3. Small, square wooden blocks

Page 12: The Messenger Grace Episcopal Church June 2013grace-rutherford.dioceseofnewark.org/artman/uploads/... ·  · 2013-06-13The Messenger Grace Episcopal Church June 2013 128 W. Passaic

4. Various occasion wrapping paper (we don’t need a lot.

It’s to wrap #3.)

We have been given a lot of unpainted ceramic bisque that

can be painted for sale at the Christmas Booth. If anyone

is interested please see Pris.

We also have brown and blue fluffy yarn if anyone

would like to turn it into scarves or whatever sings to you

.

Things are really starting to percolate. If you have any

questions just ask us. You can give us a call at 201-933-

4836 or 201-450-4182.

We remain your devoted Codfish,

\ Bob & Pris Dailey \

FROM THE PARISH OFFICE -- Thanks to all the office volunteers and to everyone who has called to offer their time if it is needed. Sometimes it takes extra hands to get a job done, and the support we get from the parish is sincerely appreciated.

-- We would like to have everyone’s email address in order to establish a parish communication system. Also, let us know if your other contact information changes so we can update our records. -If your birthday or anniversary isn’t included in The Messenger let us know so we can add them to our master list. We’d like to include everyone who is celebrating a special day. -- If you know of anyone who is in the hospital, please notify Fr. Bob or the parish office. -- Copies of The Voice, the Diocese of Newark newsletter, are available in the back of the church. Please help yourself.
