LSA identified the need for a revolutionary approach to the design of Marine Evacuation Systems (MES).

The objective was simple: to design a more reliable MES which was easier to use and provided a faster yet safer evacuation for all. The result was the pioneering LSA inclined slide based dry shod Marine Evacuation System designed to deliver passengers and crew directly into large capacity liferafts.

MES COMPONENTSEach LSA Marine Evacuation System comprises:

> an inflatable inclined evacuation slide;

> a large capacity inflatable liferaft (canopied or open reversible);

> a lightweight stowage cradle manufactured in marine grade aluminium; and

> a simple lightweight MES exterior door and coaming.

LSA MES is the only approved MES which evacuates passengers and crew directly from the vessel into large capacity liferafts via an inclined evacuation slide without the need for any winches or complicated hydraulics.

The liferafts are designed to form part of the LSA MES but can also be deployed as stand alone units

The LSA range of large capacity liferafts are suitable for all types and sizes of vessel whether operating on long international voyages or domestic coastal routes. The liferafts are designed to form part of the LSA MES but can also be deployed as stand alone units.

The LSA range includes:

LSA currently has MORE THAN 30 approved service centres in MORE THAN 23 countries that are fully trained in the servicing LSA equipment

GLOBAL SERVICE

Due to the simplicity of design, the LSA MES is easy to service resulting in fast service turnarounds. An MES can be re-installed in less than two hours.

Liferaft Systems Australia’s equipment is serviced annually by the global service network of LSA certified service representatives as part of its quality management system and commitment to safety. LSA currently has more than 30 approved service centres in more than 23 countries that are fully trained in the servicing of LSA’s equipment.

This ensures that wherever a vessel is operating the ship owner or operator will have access to the necessary service support to maintain their investment in the LSA MES.

The service representatives are individually approved and trained by LSA technicians. Stringent controls are in place to ensure high quality standards continue throughout the serviceable life of the product.

Detailed service instructions and packing checklists are provided for each MES and liferaft to ensure service consistency regardless of which LSA approved service station you choose.

CREW TRAINING

The LSA MES is designed to be simple to use by all crew from experienced seafarers to hospitality staff.

This simplicity enables crew training time and costs to be reduced. Despite this simplicity LSA place great emphasis on crew training.

Each vessel is provided with a crew operations manual and customised computer-based training presentation as standard.

LSA can provide bespoke training courses to ship’s crew and ship owner training personnel.

Additional training aids are available.

THE LSA MES is fully type approved to be used as a Means of Rescue

MEANS OF RESCUE

The LSA MES is fully type approved to

be used as a Means of Rescue (MOR)

by fitting the MES winch to a single MES

station. Approved in accordance with

SOLAS Chapter III Regulation 26.4.

> Removes the need for dedicated

davit crane and MOR liferaft unit,

thus reducing capital and annual

maintenance costs.

> Enables seriously injured persons to be recovered or evacuated using a basket-type stretcher.

> Each shipset also supplied with rope ladder to aid personnel recovery or if crew need to return to vessel during an evacuation.
