A Message from Abbi

Last month, we shared that we would be spotlighting a few intergenerational relationships within the church over the next few months. There is no better relationship to start this journey with than that of Jim Pleasants and Andrew Richardson. Jim has served this church in many capacities since 1978 including teaching Sunday School, serving in the food pantry, and leading children at VBS—not to mention the many committees on which he has served or the ways in which he steps up to help whenever help is needed. Andrew is a junior at South Central High School and an active member of our youth group, who willingly serves as a member of the growing young team, plays varsity football, and works at Parker’s Barbeque. He and his family have been a part of TMBC for several years now. Kind words about these two gentlemen would never express the

character and servant hearts they have, but the love they have for one another is best described in the joy you can see in this picture. For years, Jim has taken time not only to speak to Andrew but to ask him about the everyday adventures of his life. They pick with one another and truly are invested in each other’s lives. Jim and Marcia have become people Andrew knows he can count on if he ever needs anything. Over the past year, as Andrew has gotten his license, it has been so special to see their relationship thrive even more. During the summer, Andrew and Jim spent many days together when Andrew didn’t have football. In this time, Andrew helped Jim with whatever he may have had going on, but, more importantly, Jim discipled Andrew as a follower of Christ without even meaning to. It hasn’t taken much effort on either part to grow and to nourish this relationship, but it has been the intentionality on behalf of each of them to show care and concern for the other’s wellbeing. Why don’t you reach out to someone this month and develop a relationship? Let others know they can count on you. I’m so thankful for the way Jim and Andrew teach us by example so very effortlessly to walk life with one another.

Sunday, November 3

Dear Church Family,

Ever since I announced to you all that Daniel and I would be welcoming a baby, you have shown so much love, support, and concern for our growing family. We have been overwhelmed by the cards, kind words, and gifts. You then turned around and showered us with more love than we could have ever imagined at our shower. And then to add the pastor appreciation baskets! Wow! I am so thankful! We are blessed beyond measure to be a part of such a loving, kind, and generous church family. Thank you for the ways you are supporting us in this preparation and the way you are rallying around my being away for twelve weeks. You are such a gift to serve alongside, and I could not even properly begin to express my gratitude to you for the love you radiate of Jesus. I cannot wait for Graham Michael to have the chance to be loved by you all as well as I know you will teach him who Jesus is in amazing ways. You are so loved and appreciated!

In the love of Christ, Abbi and Daniel Mullens
