Hello Mason- Dixons: It’s hot! I hope you all are staying cool and having fun. The next big events on the horizon for our chapter are the Fall Rally and 2020 SE Region Rally. I believe most of you know the host chapter responsibility for the SE Re- gion Rally rotates through the three chapters in the Southeast Region. We have it for 2020 and will do it again in 2023. Although hosting that major rally takes some effort, it is fun and rewarding. To ease the workload by sharing the effort, we need the help of all our members. Please plan to attend the 2020 SE Region Rally. You will find information regarding the rally and the registration form in the Next Rally section of the DOAI website The Fall Rally this year will be our last opportunity to gather as a chapter to go over plans for the SE Rally. We will also do all the typical chapter rally ac- tivities so please plan to attend. This is a great opportunity for our new members to get to know others in the chapter. Becky and I just returned from a photo Safari to Kenya. I’ll try to put together a short presentation with pictures for the chapter gather- ing to give you a taste of our big adventure. Hello Mason-Dixons:

It’s hot! I hope you all are staying cool and having fun.

The next big events on the horizon for our chapter are the Fall Rally and 2020 SE Region Rally.

I believe most of you know the host chapter responsibility for the SE Re-gion Rally rotates through the three chapters in the Southeast Region. We have it for 2020 and will do it again in 2023. Although hosting that major rally takes some effort, it is fun and rewarding. To ease the workload by sharing the effort, we need the help of all our members. Please plan to attend the 2020 SE Region Rally. You will find information regarding the rally and the registration form in the Next Rally section of the DOAI website

The Fall Rally this year will be our last opportunity to gather as a chapter to go over plans for the SE Rally. We will also do all the typical chapter rally ac-tivities so please plan to attend. This is a great opportunity for our new members to get to know others in the chapter.

Becky and I just returned from a photo Safari to Kenya. I’ll try to put together a short presentation with pictures for the chapter gather-ing to give you a taste of our big adventure. It was a wonderful ex-perience.

Take care Marshall

Mason-Dixon Discoverys Chapter Meeting, Williamsburg, Virginia

April 26, 2019

President called the meeting to order at 9:35 am. Following the pledge of allegiance, President Godwin announced that there would not be opening remarks. He stated that we would proceed with a short meeting and follow it with a planning meeting for the upcom-ing Southeast rally at Lazydays . He dispensed with roll call. He recognized new members Michael and Linda Kolb. They are from Charleston WV. Secretary’s report The minutes of the previous meeting were read by Secretary Mary Anne Weinberg. President inquired if there were any additions or corrections. President called for a motion to accept the minutes John Ricciardi moved that the minutes be accepted as read. Sonny Blackwell seconded the motion. The motion was carried unanimously. Treasurer’s Report The treasurer Grant Newberry read his report. The president asked if there were any additions or corrections. Helen Blackwell moved that the report be accepted as read. Debra Pruyne seconded the motion. The motion was carried unanimously. Old Business Grant Newberry announced that he is working with Ricky Keen to finalize the IRS tax issue. The IRS needs more information. It is a work in progress. Report will be filed by May 15th and we will be good until 2020. We are waiting for final approval. New Mason Dixon shirts will be discussed at a later date. Mary Anne Weinberg reminded everyone that the Mason-Dixons still need someone to fill the secretary’s position. New Business It is with deep sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Alice Ricciardi in February. She was the wife of John Ricciardi and will be missed by all who knew her. Alice served as secretary for Mason-Dixon’s for many terms. She was helpful to John in many ways as he served in many roles within DOAI and our chapter. She will be missed so much. The meeting adjourned at 10:10am. Mary Anne Weinberg Secretary

The Mason-Dixon’s were on the go every day of the Spring rally in Williamsburg. Marshall presented a seminar on

how to survive camping without luxury of hookups and another on RVing to and throughout Alaska. Both sessions

were very informative and gave those of us who haven’t ventured beyond the lower 49 the confidence to forge ahead

with a trip to Alaska in the future. We also took time out of our local tours to work on plans for the upcoming Camp

Discovery Rally in January. The hosts, Dennis Kiser and Donna Crinklaw, prevailed on their friends to assist in mak-

ing the weekend a memorable event. The activities ranged from hanging out with alpacas to private tours of Wil-

liamsburg and Jamestown and culminating with world famous Pierce’s BBQ and a private concert of Keltic music by

the by the Route 5 Ramblers.

Those of us in attendance were introduced to a few of the eateries that are the local favorites. Chatting over orders of

cocktails and flatbreads, on the social patio of the Williamsburg Inn, was a special treat as we enjoyed the lovely view

on a perfect spring evening.

A Quick note to Mason Dixon members, we will again be having a book club discussion at

the upcoming National Rally in Pueblo, Colorado. In following with a theme of learning

more about the area we are visiting, this novel - The Diary of Mattie Spenser follows a

young woman's travels from a small town in Iowa in a covered wagon to the Colorado fron-

tier. The author is Sandra Dallas who has written many historical novels and received

awards for both women's writings and western culture. Ms Dallas resides in nearby Den-

ver, and I did correspond with her to see if perhaps she would come and participate in our

gathering, I will keep working on that. I know the last book we read for the South East Re-

gional Rally in Florida greatly enhanced the "Cracker" theme portrayed there. Hopefully,

this selection will add to our "Rocky Mountain High"

2020 SE Region Rally

I am including the list of Key Rally Assignments from last quarter in the event there are any questions at the fall rally. (Dick Tracy)
