THE LSC FLY-BY January 2017 The LSC Fly-By January 2017 Be The Change. . . Make A Difference DECEMBER SOCIAL Our December social was our 20th Annual Wreath & Tree Raffle, we had a terrific turn out and everyone had a fabulous time. We raised over $1900 for our Welfare Fund which in turn goes back into our Luke AFB community in the form of college scholarships for military dependents and grants to base organizations such as the Library and the Chapel. I would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to everyone who created, designed and donated the beautiful wreaths and trees. I was blown away by the beauty and creativity of each and every one of them! Without all of you, this event would not be possible. I am thankful to have been given the opportunity to serve on the board as your Welfare Treasurer. The LSC has helped me accomplish many personal goals I had set for myself. One was to build positive relationships with other spouses and the second was to be more involved with my community. I can strongly say that because of the LSC I have not only made life-long connections, but have also had the privilege to volunteer for so many great local organizations. My husband has been active duty for about 8 years now and this is my first time ever being involved in the Spouses’ Club. I personally regret not being involved much sooner, but I am appreciative to have had such a positive experience here at Luke AFB. The LSC is truly a great club to be involved with; it can make a significant impact not only in your life, but the lives of others. DECEMBER SOCIAL

Our December social was our 20th Annual Wreath & Tree Raffle, we had a terrific turn out and everyone had a fabulous time. We raised over $1900 for our Welfare Fund which in turn goes back into our Luke AFB community in the form of college scholarships for military dependents and grants to base organizations such as the Library and the Chapel.

I would like to extend a huge

THANK YOU to everyone who

created, designed and donated

the beautiful wreaths and trees.

I was blown away by the beauty

and creativity of each and every

one of them! Without all of you,

this event would not be possible.

Congratulations LSC members on all of your volunteerism and charity for the month of December!! We

were packed with events from our Wreath & Tree Raffle, Gift Wrapping at the BX (twice), Toy Drive for Phoenix Children's Hospital, the Oasis Meal, the Airman Cookie Drive, the Annual VA Holiday Luncheon, and food donations to the VA Hospital. The generosity during December was overwhelming!!

The VA Holiday Luncheon was a huge success. We were informed by staff that we made a lasting impact on the patients through the delicious meal and the quality time with the Airmen. The mental health floor was in great spirits and chatting about the holiday luncheon all day. Thank you to those that assisted with the meal and all the donations for their Snack Pantry!

We also had the opportunity to drop off ALL our toys from the December toy drive to Phoenix Children's Hospital. The staff were very thankful for the gifts. Your toys will go directly in the hands of children here in Phoenix during their stay at the hospital.

For the month of February the LSC will be hosting a donation drive for our LSC

apartment at the Ronald McDonald House Campus. Our sponsored apartment houses

families who have children staying at the Phoenix Children’s Hospital. It gives

parents an ease of mind being within walking distance of their sick child. The LSC

will be giving the apartment an updated renovation with fresh paint on the walls, new

furniture, fresh towels and bed sheets and home decorations to give it a welcoming

and warm feeling. Stay tuned for a wish list of needed items or you can make a

monetary donation to this amazing cause!

The February Social will be a Paint & Sip event. What is a Paint & Sip you ask? Well, everyone starts with a blank canvas and we have an instructor talk us through a painting (yes, we actually paint a picture).

AND, while we paint, we drink (SIP) wine. It will be a great time, we hope to see you there!
