Churchwide Summer Scripture Memory Celebration

Sunday, August 22nd

It’s time to celebrate the hard work our children and youth have done this

summer to memorize scripture. We will have water slides, pizza, treats, prizes,

and short ceremony to show the children and youth how much we love them and celebrate them. This is our chance as a

church to welcome the children just as our Savior does. Here is the schedule:

• 4-5:45 Water slides & outdoor activities on the soccer field at the Lower School at Westminster - Kids & youth, wear your swimsuit, bring a towel & dry clothes. Adults, bring a lawn chair.

• 6 pm We will gather at Knox Hall for a brief program followed by pizza, drinks & dessert. Kids will redeem their points at the “Memory Market”.

Fall/Winter Women’s Bible Study. Our next study, starting mid-September will be The Promised One:

Seeing Jesus in Genesis by Nancy Guthrie, https://www.pcabookstore.com/p-8441-the-promised-one-

seeing-jesus-in-genesis.aspx, known as “a master of getting the Word of God into the mouths, hearts, and

lives of her students” with her “breath-taking grasp of the Scriptures”. Using this proven, and now-familiar

format of personal study, teaching chapter, and group discussion, the gospel will be applied to issues

such as shame, fear, and the desire for significance. Women will be contacted by their Study Group hosts

and/or Leader Team member for book orders ($12) before August 22 (visitors may contact Janet Mackert

706-414-0482). In-home and videoconference Study Groups are planned.

Baby Shower for Payton Prather. Please join us on Saturday, September 11th @10am for a Baby Shower honoring Pay-

ton Prather. Let’s love on her with fellowship, gifts and prayer. Please RSVP to Meredith Lambert 205-246-1412, call/text.

Location is 914 Big Oak Circle, Martinez.

also doing great. Paul and Ann are so very thankful for all of your prayers on their behalf.

Church and Pastor in our Presbytery:

Providence Presbyterian Church (Harlem); Gordon Crompton, Pastor

Mission of the week: Medical Missions - Dr. Al Nutt

Pray for a clear definition of service God has for Al, the wisdom to recognize it and power to follow

through. Specifically, when/if I should travel to Buffalo to speak about medical missions with a supporting church, a

men’s bible study, and a stock car club, all which have asked me to speak when I am in town.

Pray for wisdom to know which medical mission opportunities to consider joining, especially with a possible new COVID

spike in our country and worldwide.

The Persecuted Church in Tunisia: For Christians in Tunisia, persecution comes in various forms, including targeted dis-

crimination that is often hidden from public view yet affects believers’ daily lives. Many Christians experience job insecu-

rity, family abandonment, and verbal, mental and physical abuse—making it dangerous to share their faith with family

members, neighbors, friends or colleagues. As a result, most converts to Christianity choose to hide their faith and can-

not openly worship and live their lives as Christians.

PRAY: Pray that persecuted believers will sense God’s presence in their daily lives as they navigate Islamic society. Pray

for Christian converts to grow in their faith. Ask God to raise up leaders who will teach the Bible and plant underground

churches. Pray for persecuted Christian youth, especially those who face pressure from non-believing family members

when they want to marry.
