Day in the Life: Joana wakes up 1.5 hours before class and has breakfast before driving to university. If she arrives on time she has a coffee and smokes a cigarette before class. After class, she breaks for lunch, where she will meet her friends and go to the bar for a sandwich and coke. After her lunch hour, Joana meets other students on campus for group projects and to study, usually by the end of this Joana starts to get hungry and has to go back to the bar or the vending machine. Sometimes Joana has another class in the evening. After university she drives home for dinner with her family and watches tv, sometimes meeting with friends for a drink after this.

Profile: Joana is 21 years old and is studying for her bachelors degree. Joana comes from a typical Portuguese upbringing and lives at home with her family near the city centre. She communicates regularly with her friends through Facebook, Whatsapp and phone calls and spends her free time socialising with them. Joana gets a monthly allowance from her parents to spend at university and in her free time but tries to save as much of it for the weekends. Her main pains are that she is always busy trying to balance her school work load and free time and finds that she is constantly in a hurry throughout the week. To over come obstacles she prioritises and schedules time to study every day.

Her job requires a lot of work and dedication, but she’s still very worried about her health so she often try to eat healthy and to take care of herself. She likes exercising and going to fitness when she has the time. But she finds that eating healthy is very difficult because she’s always busy working and there’s very little healthy restaurants around her job. Andrea lives by herself in an apartment in the centre of the city. She really tries to save some money but she often spend too much money on food because it is the only way to eat healthy and good quality food when working. Andrea is a very dedicated person, and has clear objectives in her life, but she often slips from them, looses her self-control and sometimes gets even depressed, powerless, and weak because of too much pressure from her job.During the weak she tries to bring food from home in a lunch box, but sometimes she feels unsatisfied because of the cold food. Also, she can’t really choose what food to bring at work as most of the food she likes becomes tasteless after some hours. She would like easier ways and more convenient ways to stay healthy without loosing time and money, sometimes she feels frustrated because she can’t keep enough motivation in order to do that.

For lunch, 30% of the time she brings food from home, the other 70% of the time she goes to fast foods and restaurant near to her job. She only has 1 hour break so as soon as she eats she has to come back to work. She leaves work at 6 pm and goes directly to fitness, she has to buy something to eat on the way to keep her energy.
