I find it very encouraging when people speak at our gatherings as to what they sense the Lord is saying to us through them. Often they can be words of encouragement in our Christian walk, or they can be challenges to us to make changes in our lives. I’m sure each of us has been touched at different times through a word being given. I found many recent sensings focussed on trusting in God’s ways, whether it would be trusting in His teaching and ways of living, or seeking Him in specific areas and situations of our lives. Some of these are as follows: o Paul to Timothy “If anyone teaches otherwise and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, they are conceited and understand nothing.” o “My ways are the best ways; my ways are the truth. Do my ways, speak my ways. I want you to speak the truth.” o “Be strong, walk firmly in my word. Stand Firm.” o Psalm 119: “Teach me knowledge and good judgment, for I trust your commands. Before I was afflicted, I went astray, but now I obey your word. You are good, and what you do is good; teach me your laws.” o “Keep on looking to me my children for I will help you overcome every adversity. Look to me, my children.o “… whatever is going on in our lives and however sinful we are, when we come to him with a meek heart, the words that God would speak over our lives that will come to fruition because we’ve come to him with a meek heart.” o The Lord wants us to let go of everything because He is our great God and Provider. o Psalm 89: For You are their glory and strength, and by Your favour You exalt our horn. o Hebrews 11:32-40 “The message is very clear that no matter what we are having in our life right now, we should not lose our faith, we should not lose hope, God is always with us ready to help us.

REFLECTIONS – Putting Our Trust In God’s Ways

This month I sensed I should reflect on what the Lord has been speaking to us recently. Some of these are as follows:

o Paul to Timothy “If anyone teaches otherwise and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, they are conceited and understand nothing.” o “My ways are the best ways; my ways are the truth. Look to me, my children.” o “… whatever is going on in our lives and however sinful we

are, when we come to him with a meek heart, the words that God would speak over our lives that will come to fruition because we’ve come to him with a meek heart.”

o The Lord wants us to let go of everything because He is our great God and Provider. o Psalm 89: For You are their glory and strength, and by Your favour You exalt our horn. o Hebrews 11:32-40 “The message is very clear that no matter what we are having in

our life right now, we should not lose our faith, we should not lose hope, God is always with us ready to help us.”

I hope these words are an encouragement to you. I found that they challenge me to keep seeking the Lord in prayer in all my situations and daily reading His word. With difficult circumstances, I encourage you to share these in pastoral care. Pastoral care is one of the blessings of our way of life and a way God can strengthen us through those who care for us. Finally, Be strong, walk firmly in God’s word. Stand Firm. Don’t lose hope God is always with us.

God bless, Mark C

NEWS AND ARTICLES

CURRENT OF GRACE CONFERENCE – PALMERSTON NORTH Recently, we had the opportunity to attend the Catholic Charismatic Renewal (CCR) Current of Grace Conference. This was a special 50th year Jubilee celebration during the weekend of 22-24 September in Palmerston North. The Lamb of God community was well represented with Mike and Judy Prendeville from Timaru, Fr Merv McGettigan from Dunedin, Colin and Maria Tan from Auckland, Fr John Rea, and Andre and Karen Geelen and ourselves from Hawkes Bay. Friday evening - after a brief check-in process, we sat down to the 50th Jubilee dinner, celebrating the book launch, ‘History of CCR in New Zealand.’ It was fantastic to meet up with people we had known for so many years and see how the Holy Spirit had intertwined the love and grace of God throughout so many families. The joy on the faces of people was wonderful. There was a blessed time of praise and worship, with such songs as ‘Your Grace is Enough,' and “I Fall at Your Feet.' Afterwards, a young musician, Nathan Burtenshaw, performed a song he had written. He has set up a Christian music record company called, ‘Hallowed Sounds.' His website is www.hallowedsounds.co.nz and you will find some uplifting music, giving hope.

L-R: Nui, Lisa, Andre, Karen, Fr Merv, Mike, Judy, Mildred, Colin, and Maria.

Saturday started with a praise and worship Mass with Bishop Dennis celebrating. His homily was about the history and role of CCR in the church and changes that have happened. After the mass, representatives from different ministries that were formed from the CCR movement briefly talked about what their ministry involved. Andre and Mike represented Lamb of God. Then there were representatives from the different youth ministries – it was really uplifting to see so

many ministries catering to the youth. Worship and prayer followed for a fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit. Fr John Rea led a time of prayer – confirming gifts of the Holy Spirit that were received. We had a short lunch break where we, Andre, Karen and Maureen O’Malley (Nui’s mum), decided to step out in faith and ask God to lead us to a café where someone needed encouragement or a word. After driving around the block, we found a park outside a café, walked in and were immediately drawn to a young man. We had a wonderful lunch, blessed with such great service and hospitality. We came back to the Centre where a selection of workshops was offered: ‘Adoration with Praise and Worship,' ‘Prophetic Intercession,' ‘How to be Led by the Holy Spirit,’ and ‘The Role of Healing, Deliverance, and Miracles in our Mission.' We spread ourselves between the workshops, and in some the outpouring of prophecies and other gifts were prominent. At night time, we had a healing rally in the Cathedral, led by Fr John Rea. The church was full. It was a very blessed time with most people receiving prayer for healing from Fr John followed by a further prayer from various prayer teams. We celebrated Mass on Sunday morning in the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit. It was so wonderful celebrating the weekend and finishing it off with such a time of prayer, praise, worship and the Blessed Eucharist. We all felt very refreshed.

Nui & Lisa O’Malley The Conference in Palmerston North was a wonderful experience of “CHURCH.” People from so many groups whom the Holy Spirit has touched through the Charismatic Renewal were present and shared their stories. The worship, led by an Anointed music group was an uplifting experience. Meeting so many people from all over New Zealand who have been opened to the Holy Spirit was a wonderful faith experience. I felt that the whole weekend was a fitting way to Celebrate 50 years of the Charismatic Renewal in New Zealand.

Rev. Mervyn McGettigan

There were over three hundred people at the gathering which reminded me in some ways of the Christian Advance Ministries Summer Camps of the 1970s and 1980s. For me, it was good to meet again people I hadn’t seen for many years and to regret not seeing some who because of age or for other reasons were not present. The two great blessings of the weekend for me were the two reports. One based on what the Holy Father had to say at the Vigil Service on the Vigil of Pentecost, 2017 informed us that the whole leadership structure would change. The Pope will establish a single department in the Vatican to deal with the Renewal On this account the distinction between CCR and the Catholic Fraternal will vanish. Pope Francis spoke about “reconciled diversity” in our ranks. He also spoke about “charismatic ecumenism.” (As a Pentecostal Pastor reminds us, a spiritual ecumenism is in our DNA.) The other report dealt with our current state and what we need do to for the future of the Renewal. Nine older people came forward and told us briefly about the ministry their strand of the Renewal is engaged in. They were followed by nine young people who shared their group ministries. The future lies with the new generation, and we who belong to the older must share our wisdom and experience with young. If there were a negative aspect in the Current of Grace Weekend, it was the lack of time in which to share casually with others. The reason for that, I believe, was that too much was packed into the time available. However, the blessing of good information about what is going on far outweighed any disadvantages. The organizers did an excellent job.

Blessings to you, Fr John Rea

AUCKLAND BRANCH NEWS MEN’S BREAKFAST – SATURDAY 30TH SEPTEMBER On Saturday 30 September, the Auckland Branch held the final Men's Breakfast of 2017. How blessed I am to be part of a community that provides so much support and guidance in my spiritual life. My eyes were opened to the number of brothers (and sisters) who work behind the scenes. Thank you, Cosmos, for quietly and humbly ensuring the Men's Breakfast runs smoothly. I have gained immensely through the praise and worship, the teachings, and the fellowship and I encourage each brother to make the most of what community offers. Our presence is a good start. This Men's Breakfast had the highest attendance. It was wonderful and encouraging to see the Men's 6 - pack, I am referring to the six young adults present. Joe Collins led praise and worship, assisted by Rosjier Hall. Joe has the gifting of leading praise and worship and led us into HIS presence. His prompting was for us to open our hearts to forgive. Greg then gave a short but deep teaching on 'Our Call to Evangelism.' A few points that struck me: 1. The Church (and we are the Church) exists to evangelise. 2. The Jews (and us) are the chosen people - chosen to evangelise the rest. 3. It's not that God loves the Israelites more than other nations. He loved all but chose the Israelites to evangelise the other nations. 4. The evangeliser gets evangelised when he evangelises.

May these words that entered our ears, fill our hearts, and draw us to action. Use me, Lord, use me.

Patrick Amaral MEN’S CONFERENCE – FRIDAY 6TH TO SUNDAY 8TH OCTOBER

The Auckland Branch of the Lamb of God held their Men’s Conference from the 6th to 8th October at a picturesque location - Peter Snell Christian Camp. The theme of the conference was “Men of Fire.” FIRE is an acronym for Faith, Integrity, Responsibility, and Excellence. At the start of the conference, there was a bare cross, and each of us men was encouraged to take a flame and stick it around this cross. When all the flames were stuck, we had such an awesome feeling and felt a burning desire to renew our commitment and be on fire for the Lord. Our teachings for the weekend was on how to live a life of FIRE:

Faith – This talk was delivered by John who spoke on growing deeper in our Faith in Christ. Acquiring an informed faith is our way of loving God with all our mind. As men of faith, we need to have a total commitment to God. Integrity – Greg spoke on how we should be men of integrity. How integrity should always be in our hearts and how we need to practice doing the right thing over and over again until it becomes part of our DNA. He also told us that we need to be on guard at all times to live righteously. A quote mentioned by Greg was "Integrity is choosing your thoughts and actions based on values rather than personal gain." Responsibility – This afternoon talk was delivered by Ronnie who had the responsibility of keeping us awake. Ronnie spoke about our responsibilities as men of God - being responsible to God, our family, our church, our workplace, and our country. He urged us, men, to take on the responsibility within our families in directing our family spiritually and also looking after our family's wellbeing. He also mentioned that, as men of responsibility, we need to take ownership of our mistakes. Excellence - Harry gave an excellent talk on Excellence. He defined it as being a process of becoming better each day by not comparing ourselves with others but rather by taking the time to reflect each day on how we can do better from our previous day. The personal testimonies shared by the brothers relating to each of the talks on how the Lord has worked in their lives in helping them become responsible and live their lives with integrity and excellence added a lot of value to the teachings The climax of the entire weekend was the Ministry time by Mike Lobo wherein he led the brothers through the Courtroom of Heaven. What a joyous feeling it was to come out of

the courtroom with the verdict “NOT GUILTY” as we have been saved by the blood of Christ. To end the weekend, we had the Emmaus walk. This walk helped us to have a deep sharing with a brother about our walk with the Lord. It also helped us to form bonds of closeness. Sincere thanks to the Band-of-Brothers who put in a lot of work to ensure the success of this awesome conference.

NATIONAL MISSION APPEAL 2017 – THANKS!

Many thanks to all those who have donated SO FAR to the National Mission Appeal for 2017 – brothers and sisters from all over the country have been generous in supporting our mission work within and outside New Zealand.

For those who have not donated yet, it is not too late – see the next page for information and instructions on how to donate.

One gives freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want. Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will

CHALLENGES IN LIVING TOGETHER AS A COMMUNITY Resource for Reflection or House Group Discussion by Tom Caballes

Enjoying The Best Things in Life – November 2017

But, as it is written, "What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him." [1 Corinthians 2:9 ESV]

What was the best thing that has ever happened to you? Was it based on personal success, relationships, career, or something else? But no matter how great was that best thing for you, it was fleeting. It’s gone. It seems as if we can never be truly happy and fulfilled in this life. Ecclesiastes 3:11 says God has put eternity into our hearts – that’s why nothing earthly can truly make us happy. Does your experience of life’s best things confirm this view? The truth is that the best things in life can only be found and enjoyed in God; and the truly best things – the ones that will not fade, rot, or be taken away - are still to come! So How Do You Reach The Place Where You Can Enjoy The Best Things In Life Now and Forever? 1. Make God your ultimate source of joy. Yes, it is good to enjoy God’s blessings, but don’t let those things or relationships be the centre of your life. Life without God is futile. It is like chasing the wind. See Ecclesiastes 1:14. No matter how happy or successful you are in this life, you are like grass – here one day and gone tomorrow. Walk with God through life daily to the end. Make God the chief source of your joy. 2. No joy and satisfaction can truly be relished without God – any Narcissistic accomplishment, greedy success, or Hedonistic pleasure. Why? Because one day, we will account ourselves to God. See Hebrews 4:13 –nothing is hidden from the eyes of God. Enjoying something now you will regret later is pointless. 3. What statement should be your motto, mission statement, and guide for your life? "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. [Matthew 22:37 ESV] This phrase should be your first thought as you awake and the last thing you should reflect on as you sleep. 4. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. [Colossians 3:2-3 ESV] We should not base our hopes, goals, and plans mainly on things that will not matter in the end. Life is a gateway and preparation to things that are eternal. Your priority should be: invest your time, energy, and resources on the things that will have an eternal impact. 5. Our fallen human nature makes focusing on God difficult for us, so we need to “lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us” [Hebrews 12:1]. We are sinners on the way to heaven – that is why we always need to repent and draw near to Him. 6. We are social beings, so the best way we can truly enjoy the best things in life is to share Jesus and His promise of eternal life to others. No matter how good our relationships in this life can be, death will triumph on this side of life. True and lasting friendships can only be found with God in heaven, where we can enjoy friendship with God and all our families and friends forever. 7. Know this: the best things in life now is just a foretaste of what is to come – anticipate it! Revel in it! OTHER SCRIPTURE PASSAGES: 1. One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in his temple. [Psalms 27:4 ESV] 2. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. [John 10:10 ESV] 3. For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. [Jeremiah 29:11 ESV] 4. Other references: Psalm 16:11; Matthew 6:19-21; Matthew 6:33; Philippians 3:20, and 1 Corinthians 10:31. FOR REFLECTION OR SHARING:

In what way can your life be more eternal-focussed so that you can enjoy the best things in life that will not fade away? How can you reach out to your friends who do not know Christ?

PRAYERWATCH SOLDIERS OF CHRIST, ARISE Fight the good fight. Reinforce the guard, station the watchmen, prepare an ambush! The Lord will carry out his purpose. Jeremiah 51: 12 NIV Soldiers of Christ, Arise, and put your armour on! The Battle is Spiritual. Over the coming months, I will start to look at spiritual battles in the Bible, this time looking at battles Moses fought, as we need to recognise that we are fighting spiritually in most of our battles. The first battle to look at is when God called Moses at the burning bush [Exodus 3:] to lead the Israelites out of Egypt and to the promised land of Canaan. Moses job was to persuade Pharaoh to let the Israelites go and the plagues [Exodus 7:-12:] were to help make Pharaoh’s mind up. The plagues were a battle between GOD and the gods of Egypt with the Israelites finally being sent from Egypt after ten plagues. Pharaoh and his officials regretted letting their Israelite slaves go free so chased after them with horses, chariots, and soldiers, catching up with them at the Red Sea. The Israelites cried out to the Lord God [Exodus 14:] and in answer he drove back the waters and the Israelites crossed between the waters to safety. The Egyptians followed between the receded waters, and when all were in the seabed, the Lord let the waters returned destroying the army. Without raising a weapon, the victory belonged to the Israelites through the power of God. The Israelites then sang a song of praise [Exodus 15:] to the Lord. Exodus 15:11-12 NIV: Who among the gods is like you, Lord? Who is like you—majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders? “You stretch out your right hand, and the earth swallows your enemies. On their journey through the wildness the Israelites were attacked by the Amalekites [Exodus 17:], Moses sent out the army led by Joshua and went up a hill to watch and pray. Moses raises his arms in prayer, and the Israelites start winning, but tiredness lowers the arms of Moses and the Israelites struggle in the battle. Aaron and Hur helped hold Moses arms up, and the Israelites accomplished the victory through the sword and spiritual warfare. The main battle is spiritual.

Page 12: The Lamb of God Chronicle - webzoom.freewebs.comwebzoom.freewebs.com/lognet/Chronicles/1711 Lamb of God Chronicle... · The Lamb of God Chronicle ... has gone to the Lord. o Robert

12

During the forty years wandering in the wildness rebellion was a problem for the Israelites so they needed to learn to be obedient to the Lord God and his way of life. As they approached the land of the Amorites, Sihon the king of Heshbon, [Deuteronomy 2: 24-37] leads his army out to attack the Israelites, and God tells Moses to tell his soldiers that the enemy has already been delivered into their hands. After forty years, the Israelites were obedient and worshipped the Lord God, so they were promised victory before the battle started. Next, Og, the king of Bashan, marches out with his army to attack the Israelites, and the Lord God said to Moses. Deuteronomy 3: 2 NIV: The Lord said to me, “Do not be afraid of him, for I have delivered him into your hands, along with his whole army and his land. Do to him what you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon.” Obedience is important for us today as our battle is spiritual and our lives need to be for following God’s ways and laws. The prayerwatch is our main arm of spiritual warfare, so we need to be involved and keep up an hour a week in our obedience to Jesus, our commander. All we do has a spiritual dimension and as the Israelites learned to depend on God, our Father so we need to follow them and stay obedient. Soldiers of Christ, Arise, and put your armour on, strong in the strength which God supplies, through His eternal Son. If you have any comments or questions concerning the Prayerwatch, then please send them to me or give them to one of your branch leaders to send to me. God bless and watch over you all.
