The Gospel According to Greg
Greg Taylor Greg Taylor Greg Taylor Greg Taylor [email protected] Change is never easy, is it? And yet, change is inevitable at times. I
wanted to take my weekly article and let you know about a change that
will be taking place beginning in June related to our church newsletter,
the “K.” Beginning with the month of June and for a trial period of four
months, we will no longer be publishing a weekly church newsletter and
instead will mail out a monthly publication. This potential decision has
been discussed for several months, and we wanted to give you advance
notice about the change, as well as what mechanisms we plan to
institute to ensure communication continues with you.
Here is the plan:
Monthly Newsletter – as stated above, we will be transitioning to
a monthly newsletter with the goal of having it in your hands by
the 1st of each month. This once a month publication will be
more “article” based, and will also include a calendar of events
for the current month, as well as information about ministry
teams, the missions we support and prayer opportunities. Our
army of “K” volunteers will continue to assist us with this
important communication piece. We will continue to link our
newsletter on our website.
Weekly Bulletin – you may have noticed that Sunday’s bulletin
was different from previous weeks, including not only
information about Sunday’s service, but also several
announcements you might typically find in the K. We are
lengthening the bulletin (from 3 to 7 pages of information), and
copies of the bulletin will be available at the welcome center and
the church office throughout the week for those who miss
Sunday services. We will also be linking the bulletin on our
website.
Monday Morning Blog – I will continue to write weekly articles,
and each Monday (hopefully by 11 am), I will post a weekly
blog of important news notes, updated prayer requests and my
weekly article at my blog site, on Facebook and also on our
website. For those of you who do not have computer access,
copies of this Monday blog will be available at the church office
in print form.
The Elders and the staff have approved this decision/change
unanimously, and our hope is to continue and even improve our
communication moving forward. I welcome any feedback you might
have about this change, both now and in the weeks/months ahead.
This Sunday brings Mother’s Day, and a special yearly tradition at FCC.
Our adult choir will be presenting their end of the year program during
first service only this year, so please make every effort to encourage
director Ruth Davidson and the choir with your attendance. Our choir
does an excellent job bringing glory to God!
Finally, don’t forget to make every effort to be in worship services on
Sunday morning, May 19, as the rollout team unveils FCC’s Master
Plan for our facility. I’m so thankful for the hard work of this team –
they have been meeting weekly for two months – and my guess is you
will be blessed by what is presented the morning of the 19th. Then, two
weeks later on Sunday, June 2, an interactive question and answer
session about the Master Plan will be held at 9:30am in the Family Life
Center to answer any questions related to the rollout.
Have a great week – see you Sunday!

Times may be tough. The storm may be raging. But, your faith will allow you to bend without breaking. You are righteous. You do your best to please God. When the storm is over, you will not be broken or flat on the ground. You will not be defeated or depressed. You will be stronger, healthier, and promoted! When the ill winds stop blowing, and they will, know that this too shall pass. “The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.” Psalm 92:12 (KJV) Donna and Diane Lerch really were enjoyed by our group and they sang old songs that were familiar to us. It was a very good program! We are looking forward to the Griders from Indiana bringing new songs and their loving spirit to us on June 6th. Then on July 3rd we’ll enjoy gospel music by the Prime Timers Quartet. “…for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10 (NASB) In Moline the river is down and we’re on the way to the Celebration River Cruise with the big bands playing all of our old dance numbers. That trip will be on May 16th. Then on June 22nd we’ll travel to the Little Theater on the Square in Sullivan for the stage play “A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum.” It will be a very worthwhile time to spend in the theater. The Beef House will be next in July and in August, we’ll travel to Myers Dinner Theater in Hillsboro, IN. “You cannot glorify God better than by a calm and joyous life.” - Spurgeon Nothing in your life is an accident. All things work together for good. It doesn’t mean that everything is good. You may be uncomfortable. Things may be taking longer than you wanted. But if you stay in the faith, God will use your challenges for your good. Keep your life in a positive perspective. “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion…” Philippians 1:6 NIV

VBS Corner Many things are happening right now as we plan for VBS June 17-21. Pre-registration kick-off is in just two weeks. Look for posters and other decorations announcing “Kingdom Rock” as we get closer to that date. Teachers are busy planning lessons and decorations. Karen Rice is already deciding the snacks to serve. The kids will have a great time in the opening and closing assembly with Greg, Jim and Cody. They will also enjoy Andy Glass, the Regional Ambassador for Restoration House Ministries, who will come to tell them about the mission field on the east coast. There will be videos and greetings from the churches where Carson Cheatham and Jim Turney are serving. They will see what it is like to meet in a building that is not really a church, a place where there is no baptistry. They will see that they can help by bringing money to buy a portable baptistry. We would like to welcome the parents to join us for the closing assembly each day at 11:10 a.m. to also learn more about this mission project.
Attention high school students: sign-up for Christ in Youth conference has begun.
The conference is July 21-26 in Lake of the Ozarks, MO. The cost is now $275.00
A $50.00 deposit is due when you register. Please use a brown youth payment envelope.

Christian Music Update Spring Edition Jim Coonce Jim Coonce Jim Coonce Jim Coonce
It has been a few months since I shared some currently trending Christian music and
I have been hearing some great songs that I want to pass on to you. As always, you
can listen to all of these songs on radio stations WCIC 91.5 from the Peoria area and
WBGL 88.3 (Champaign/Terre Haute), as well as the Sirius/XM satellite radio
station The Message and online radio stations, air1.com and klove.com.
Here’s some of the music you might be hearing currently:
There is a lot of great music currently released and I am scratching the surface. I
encourage you to do a music listening party by going to iTunes and search under the
Christian/Gospel category. It’s a great way to find new music. Probably one of my
surprise favorite groups right now is Group 1 Crew. I am not generally much of
Hip Hop fan, but this duo has a great sound, awesome harmonies and although there
is some rap in the songs it’s not overbearing. Best of all they share a strong gospel
message in their music.
Hope this gives you a starting place to find some new tunes!
