and I preach the Truth. You may call it Buddhism, Catholicism,

Taoism, or whatever you like. I welcome all!

By attaining inner peace we will attain everything else. All the sat-

isfaction, all the fulllment of worldly and heavenly desires come

from the Kingdom of God the inner realization of our eternal

harmony, of our eternal wisdom, and of our almighty power. If we

do not get these we never nd satisfaction, no matter how much

money or power, or how high a position we have.

Our teaching is that whatever you have to do in this world, do

it, do it wholeheartedly. Be responsible and also meditate everyday. You will get more knowledge, more wisdom, more peace, in

have God dwelling within your body. Do not forget that you have

God within your heart.

Introduction

Throughout the ages, humankind has been visi ted by

rareindividualswhosesolepurposeisthespiritualupliftment

ofhumanity.JesusChristwasoneofthesevisitors,aswere

ShakyamuniBuddhaandMohammed.Thesethreearewell-knownto

us,buttherearemanyotherswhosenameswedonotknow;some

taughtpublicly,andwereknownbyafew,andothersremainedanonymous.Theseindividualswerecalledbydifferentnames,at

differenttimes,indifferentcountries.Theyhavebeenreferredtoas:

Master,Avatar,EnlightenedOne,Savior,Messiah,DivineMother,Mes-

senger,Guru,LivingSaint,andthelike.Theycametoofferuswhat

hasbeencalled:Enlightenment,Salvation,Realization,Liberation,or

Awakening.Thewordsusedmaybedifferent,butinessencetheyall

meanthesamething. VisitorsfromthesameDivineSource,withthesamespiritual

greatness,moralpurity,andpowertouplifthumanityastheHolyOnes

fromthepastareherewithustoday,yetfewknowoftheirpresence.

OneofthemistheSupremeMasterChingHai.

MasterChingHaiisanunlikelycandidatetobewidelyrec-

ognizedasaLivingSaint.Sheisawoman,andmanyBuddhistsand

othersbelievethemyththatawomancannotbecomeaBuddha.SheisofAsiandescent,andmanyWesternpeopleexpectthattheir

Saviorwilllooklikethem.However,thoseofus,fromallovertheworld,

andfrommanydifferentreligiousbackgrounds,whohavegottento

knowHer,andwhofollowHerteachings,knowwhoandwhatShe

is.Foryoutocometoknowthis,willtakeameasureofopennessof

mindandsincerityofheart.Itwillalsotakeyourtimeandattention,

butnothingelse. Peoplespendmostoftheirtimeearningalivingandtaking

careofmaterialneeds.Weworkinordertomakeourlives,andthose

ofourlovedones,ascomfortableaspossible.Whentimepermits,wegiveawayourattentiontosuchthingsaspolitics,sports,TV,orthelatest

scandal.ThoseofuswhohaveexperiencedtheLovingPowerofdirect

innercontactwiththeDivineknowthereismoretolifethanthis.Wefeel

itisapitythattheGoodNewsisnotmorewidelyknown.Thesolution

toallofthestrugglesoflifeissittingquietlyinsideus,waiting.Weknow

thatHeavenisjustabreathaway.Forgiveuswhenweerronthesideof

overenthusiasmandsaythingsthatmayoffendyourrationalmind.Itis

difficultforustoremainquiet,seeingwhatwehaveseen,andknowing

whatweknow.

WewhoconsiderourselvesdisciplesoftheSupremeMas-

terChingHaiandfellowpractitionersofHermethod(theQuanYin

Method,)offerthisintroductorybooktoyouwiththehopethatitwill

helpbringyouclosertoyourownpersonalexperienceofDivineFul-

fillment,whetheritbethroughourMasteroranyother.

MasterChingHaiteachestheimportanceofthepractice

ofmeditation, innercontemplationandprayer. Sheexplainsthat

wemustdiscoverourowninnerDivinePresence,ifwearetobetruly

happyinthislife.Shetellsusthatenlightenmentisnotesotericand

A Little Message

IAs a creator of artistic designs as well as a spiritual teacher, SupremeMaster Ching Hai loves all expressions of inner beauty. It is for this rea-

son that She refers to Vietnam as Au Lac and Taiwan as Formosa.

Au Lac is the ancient name of Vietnam and means happiness. And the

name Formosa, meaning beautiul, reects more completely the beauty

of the island and its people. Master feels that using these names bringsspiritual elevation and luck to the land and its inhabitants.

A Master is one who has the key for you to become a Master... to

help you realize that you are also a Master and that you and God

are also One. Thats all... thats the only role of the Master.


Our path is not a religion. I do not convert anyone to Ca-

tholicism or Buddhism, or any other ism. I simply offer you

a way to know yourself; to nd out where you come from; toremember your mission here on Earth; to discover the secrets of

the universe; to understand why there is so much misery, and see

what awaits us after death.


We are separated from God because we are too busy. If some-

one is talking to you and the telephone keeps ringing, and you

are busy cooking or chatting with other people, then no one can

get in touch with you. The same thing happens with God. Hes is

calling every day and we have no time for Hirm and keep hang-

ing up on Hirm.

The Supreme Master Ching Hai

MasterChingHaiwasborntoawell-offfamilyinAulac,thedaughterofahighlyreputednaturopath.ShewasbroughtupasaCatholic,andlearnedthebasicsofBuddhismfromHer

grandmother.Asayoungchild,Sheshowedaprecociousinterestinphilo-sophicalandreligiousteachings,aswellasanuncommonlycompassionate

attitudetowardsalllivingbeings.

Attheageofeighteen,MasterChingHaimovedtoEnglandtostudy,

andthenlatertoFranceandthenGermany,whereSheworkedfortheRed

CrossandmarriedaGermanscientist.Aftertwoyearsofhappymarriage,with

theconsentofHerhusband,SheleftHermarriageinpursuitofenlightenment,

thusfulfillinganidealwhichhadbeenwithHersinceHerchildhood.Atthistime,

Shewasstudyingvariousmeditationpracticesandspiritualdisciplinesunderthe

guidanceoftheteachersandmasterswhowerewithinHerreach.Shecame

torealizethefutilityofonepersontryingtohelpthesufferingofhumanity,and

recognizedthatthebestwaytohelppeoplewastoattaintotalrealization

Herself.WiththisasHersingulargoal,Shetraveledaroundmanydifferentcoun-

tries,searchingfortheperfectmethodofenlightenment.

Throughmanyyearsoftests,trialsandtribulations,MasterChingHai

finallyfoundtheQuanYinMethodandtheDivineTransmissionintheHimalayas.

Afteraperiodofdiligentpractice,duringHerretreatintheHimalayas,Sheat-

tainedcompleteenlightenment.

IntheyearsafterHerenlightenment,MasterChingHai l ivedthe

quiet,unassuminglifeofaBuddhistnun.Shyinnature,ShekepttheTreasure

hiddenuntilpeoplesoughtHerinstructionandinitiation.Itisthroughtheinsistent

requestsandeffortsofHerearlierdisciplesinFormosaandUSA,thatMaster

ChingHaihascometolecturethroughouttheworld,andhasinitiatedmany

tensofthousandsofsincerespiritualaspirants.

TodaymoreandmoreTruthseekersfromdifferentcountriesandall

religionshavebeenstreamingtoHerforHersupremewisdom.TothosewhosincerelywishtolearnandpracticethemethodofImmediateEnlightenmentwhichSheHerselfhasverifiedtobethesupremeonetheQuanYinMethod,

consciousness.ThereistheKingdomofGodwithin,thereisBuddhaNa-

ture,etc.Thesearesomethingsthatarepromisedbeyondthisworld.But

notmanypeoplehaveaccesstowhatispromisedintheseScriptures,

notmany.Iwouldntsaynone,butnotmany.Comparedtothepopu-

lationoftheworld,peoplewhohaveaccesstotheKingdomofGod

withinorwhatwecall,whatisbeyondthisworld,areveryfew.

AndifyouareinAmerica,probablyyouhavemanyopportunitiesto

readalotofbooksthatdescribethingsthatarebeyondourworld.AndsomeofthemoviesthattheAmericanpeoplemadearenot

altogetherfiction.Also,therearesomemoviesmadebyJapanese

thatarealsonotallfiction.Becausethesepeoplehaveprobablyread

someofthebooksthathavebeenwrittenbythosewhohavebeen

beyondthisworldortheythemselveshavehadsomeglimpsesinto

theKingdomofGod.

So,whatliesintheKingdomofGod?WhyshouldwebotherabouttheKingdomofGodifwealreadyhaveenoughworktodointheworldand

wehaveajob,wehavesecurehouses,andwehaveenoughloving

relationships,etc.?Precisely,becausewealreadyhaveallthese,we

shouldbeconcernedabouttheKingdomofGod.

ItsoundstooreligiouswhenwesaytheKingdomofGod.Itsactually

justsomelevelofhigherconsciousness.Thepeopleintheolddays,they

saythatitisheaven,butinscientificterms,wecansay,itisadifferent

ahigherlevelofknowledge,ahigherlevelofwisdom.Andthiswecanhaveaccessto,shouldweknowhow.

So,latelyinAmerica,wehaveallheardofthelatestinvention;that

peopleevenhaveamachinetoputyouintosamadhi.Haveyouex-

periencedthis?ItsinAmericaonsale.Fourhundredtosevenhundred,

dependsonwhatlevelyouwant.Theycall

thisisforthelazypeoplewhodontwanttomeditate,justwanttoberightinsamadhi.Now,in

caseyoudontknow,Illbebriefaboutthat.

Theysaythatthiskindofmachinecanputyouintoarelaxed,mental

attitude,state;relaxedstate,thenyouwouldachievethehighlevelof

IQ.Thatssupposedtogiveyouhighknowledge,highwisdomandthen

youfeelgreat,etc.Andthismachineusessomeselectedmusic,outer

music,soyouneedearphones,andthentheyputsomeelectric,prob-

ablycurrentsthatstimulateyou,thenyouprobablyseesomeflashes.

Soyouneedalsoablindfold.Theearphonesandtheblindfold,thats

allyouneedforsamadhi.Thisisverygood,andfourhundreddollars

verycheap.Butoursamadhiisevencheaper,itcostsnothing,anditsforever,forever.Andyoudontneedtochargewithbatteriesor

electricity,plugin,plugout;orincasethemachinegoesoutoforder,

youdontneedtogoandfixit.

Now,eveniftheartificiallightandtheartificialmusiccouldmake

peoplebecomesorelaxedandsowiseitissupposedtogivethem

this,butIhavereadonanewspaperwhatitssupposedtodo,Ihavent

trieditmyself.Sothatswhyitisveryhotandhassoldalot,Iheard.Eventheseartificialthingscouldputusintoarelaxedmoodandincrease

ourIQ,thencouldyouimaginehowmuchtherealthingcanhelpus

inourwisdom?Therealthingisbeyondthisworldbutitisaccessibleto

everyman,shouldwewanttocontactwithit.Thisistheinnerheavenly

MusicandtheinnerheavenlySound.Anddependingontheintensity

ofthisMusic,oftheinnerLightorinnerMusic,wecanpushourselves

beyondthisworld,gointoadeeperlevelofunderstanding.

Iguessitisjustlikethelawofphysics.Youwanttosendsomerocketinto,

beyondthegravity,youhavetohavealotofpushingpowerbehind

that,andalsowhenitfliesveryfastitalsoemanatessomelight.SoI

guesswhenwegofastintothebeyond,wecanradiatesomeLight

also,andalsowecanheartheSound.

TheSoundisthekindofVibrationalPowerthatpushesusintothehigher

levels,butitdoesthatwithoutanynoise,withoutmuchtroubleand

nocostandnodiscomforttotheexperiencer.Thatisthewaytogo

intothebeyond.

Andwhatisbeyondthisworldthatisbetterthanourworld?Everything

thatwecanimagineandcannotimagine.Onceweexperienceit,

thenweknow.Nooneelsecouldtellusreally.Butwehavetobeper-

sistentinthat,andwehavetotrulybesincere,otherwisenooneelse

candoitforus.Thesamelikenooneelsecanreplaceyoutowork

attheUNsofficeandyougetpaidforthat.Thesameasnooneelse

couldhelpustoeatandthenwegetsatisfied.Therefore,thewayis

tobeexperienced.Wecouldlistentosomeonewhohasexperiencetotellus,butwecannotgainmuchexperiencefromthat.Wemay

haveexperiencesonetime,foracoupleoftimesorsomedaysdueto

thepowerofthatpersonwhoexperiencedGod.Thenwemightsee

someLightorhearsomeSound,verynaturallywithoutoureffort,but

inmostcases,itdoesntlastverylong.So,wehavetoalsoexperience

itanddoitourselves.

Beyondourworld,therearemanydifferentworlds.Wecouldjustputanexample,liketheonealittlebithigherthanus.Whatwecallthe

AstralworldintheWesternterminology.IntheAstralworld,theyhave

evenonehundredandmoredifferentlevels.Andeachlevelisa

worldofitself.Anditrepresentsourlevelofunderstanding.Itsjustlike

wegointotheuniversity,andtheneachgradeaswegothroughthe

university,itrepresentsourunderstandingmore,abouttheuniversitys

teachingandthenslowlywemovetothegraduation.

IntheAstralworld,wewillseemanykindsofso-calledmiraclesand

weprobablywillbetemptedalsobymiraclesandweprobablywill

havemiraclesalso.Wecanhealthesick,wecansometimessee

somethingsthatotherpeoplecannotsee.Wehaveatleastsixkinds

ofmiraculouspower.Wecanseebeyondtheordinaryboundaries,

wecanhearbeyondthelimitsofspace.Thedistancedoesntmake

adifferencetous.Thatswhatwecalltheheavenlyearsandtheheavenlyeyes.Andthenwecanseethroughthepeoplesthinking,

andwhathehasinhismind,sometimeswecansee,etc.Theseare

thepowersthatsometimesweacquirewhenwehaveaccesstothe

FirstLeveloftheKingdomofGod.

Andwithin thisFirst Level, Ihavealreadysaid thatwehavemany

differentotherlevelswhichofferusalotmorethanlanguagecan

describe.Forexample,afterinitiation,thenwemeditateandifour

levelisatthefirstone,thenwehavemanymoreabilities.Thenwewill

evendevelopourliteraturetalentwhichwedidnthavebefore.And

alsoweknowmanythingsthatotherpeopledonotknowandmany

thingscometousjustlikegiftsfromheaven,sometimesfinancially,

sometimescareer-wiseand sometimesmanyotherthings.Andwebegintobeabletowritepoemsormaybewecandrawpictures,and

wecandosomethingsthatwehavenotbeenabletodobeforeand

wecouldntimaginewecoulddothat.ThatstheFirstLevel.Andwe

couldwritepoemsandwritebookswiththebeautifulstyle.Andwe

couldhavebeenanonprofessionalwriterbefore,butwecouldwrite

now,forexample.Theseareverymaterialbenefitsthatwecanget

whenweareintheFirstLevelofconsciousness.

Actually,thesethingsarenotGodsgifts.Thesethingsareinheaven

insideusandonlybecausewehaveawakenedthem,theybecame

alive.Andthenwecanmakeuseofthem.So,thisissomeoftheinfor-

mationabouttheFirstLevel.

Now,whenwegotothehigherlevel,thenweseemanyotherthings,

andweachievemanyotherthings.OfcourseIcannottellyouevery-

thingbecauseoftime.Also,itsnotnecessarytolistentoallthebeau-

tifulthingsaboutcakesandcandiesandnevereatthem.Therefore,

Ijustkindofappetizealittlebit,andifyouwanttoeatthem,thats

anotherthing.Wecanofferrealfoodlateron.Yes!Justincaseyou

wanttoeatthesethings.

Now,ifwegoalittlebitbeyondthisleveltotheSecondLevel,what

wecallSecond,justforthesakeofsimplifyingmatters.TheSecondLevelthenwewillprobablyhavealotmoreabilitiesthanthefirst

one,andincludingthemiracles.Butthemoststrikingachievementwe

There ismuchmore tobegained from theSecond Levelof con-

sciousness.ButwhenonereachestheSecondLevel,thisisalreadyfan-

tastic,alreadyalivingBuddha,becauseyouhaveopenedtheBuddhi,

theintellect.Andweknowmanythings,manythingsthatwecouldnot

name.Andeveryso-calledmiraclewouldhappentous,whetherwe

wantitornot,becauseourintellectjustopenedandjustknowshow

tocontactthehighersourceofhealing,ofarrangingsothatourlife

wouldbecomesmootherandbetter.AndourintellectorBuddhihasopenedsothatitcanhaveaccesstoalltheinformationnecessary

fromthepastandfromthepresentinordertoarrangeandtokindof

rearrangeorkindofmakeupforsomethingwedidwronginthepast.

Sothattocorrectthemistakeandthentomakeourlifebetter.

Forexample,ifwedidnotknowthatwehaveoffendedourneighbor

bysomeunintentionalaction,andnowweknow.Veryeasy!Ifwe

didnotknowandtheneighborissilentlyagainstusandtryingtodosomethingsometimesbehindusinordertoharmusbecauseofmis-

understandingsorbecausewedidsomethingwrongtotheneighbor.

Butnowweknowwhyithappened.So,itseasy.Wecangotothe

neighbororwecantelephone,orwecanhaveaparty,invitethe

neighborinandthenweclearthemisunderstanding.

Similarthingswhenwegettotheintellectuallevel,weauto-matically,Imeansilently,understandalltheseandsilentlyarrange

alltheseorcontactwithsomesourceofpowerwhichcouldhelp

ustoarrangethesethings,tobetterourwayoflife,tobetterour

courseoflife.So,weminimizemanyaccidents,manyunwelcome

situationsandunfavorableconditionsofourlife.Yes!Yes!Therefore,

whenwegettotheSecondLevel,thisisfantasticalready.

Therefore,whatIhaveexplainedtoyouisveryscientificandverylogi-calandnoneedtothinkthatayogiormeditationpersonissomekind

ofmysticalpersonoranETextraterrestrial.Theyareterrestrialbeings,

likeanyoneofus,whohavedeveloped,becausetheyknowhow.

InAmerica,wesayeverythingdependsonknow-how,sowecanlearn

everything.Right?Wecanlearneverything.Sothisisakindofbeyond

thisworldscience,inwhichwecouldlearnalso.Anditsoundsvery

strange,butthehigherthethings,themoresimple.Itsmoresimple

thanwegotohighschoolorcollegewithalltheseverycomplicated

mathematicalquestionsandproblems.

WithintheSecondLevel,therearemanydifferentlevels,too.ButIjustmakeitbriefbecauseIcannotbedetailedinallofthesecretsof

heaven.Anyhowyouwillknowallthesealsowhenyoutravelalong

withaMasterwhohasalreadytraveled.So,itsnosecret.Butitistoo

long,ifwehavetostopineachlevel,whichhasalotoflevels,sublevels

andwehavetoexamineeverythingittakestoolong.So,sometimes

aMasterjusttakesyoubrieflyfromonelevelafteranother,veryfast

Zack!Zack!Zack!Becauseifyouhavenothingtodowithmaster-

ship,thenyoudontneedtolearnsomuch.Itllgiveyouheadache.

damageitandwedontuseitfortheproperpurpose.Forexample,our

yard.Thatsallrightalso.Butitsjustwewasteourpurposeofbuyinga

car.Itsjustawasteofmoneyandtimeandourenergy.Thatsall.No

rocketishisinstrument.Heshouldtakegoodcarethatheshouldnot

astronautinsideisimportant.Thatrocketbringshimtohisdestination.But

therocketisnotthemainobjecttheastronaut,thedestination.And

shouldheusethatjusttorunaroundLongIslandthenitsalsoawaste

Initiation is not really initiation... you just come here and let me

help you help yourself. I have not come here to make you disciples...

I have come to help you become Masters.


Everyone already knows how to meditate, but you meditate on

the wrong things. Some people meditate on pretty girls, some

on money, some on business. Every time you pay full attention,whole-heartedly, to one thing, that is meditation. I pay attention

only to the inner Power, to the Compassion, the Love and Merciful

qualities of God.


Initiation means the beginning of a new life into a new order.

It means that the Master has accepted you to become one of the

beings in the circle of Saints. Then you are no longer an ordinary

being, you are elevated. In the old times they called it Baptism

or Taking Refuge in the Master.

Initiation:Te Quan Yin Method

Master Ching Hai initiates sincere people longing to knowthe ruth, into the Quan Yin Method o meditation. Te Chinese cha-racters Quan Yin mean contemplation o the Sound Vibration.

Te Method includes meditation on both the inner Light and the

inner Sound. Tese inner visions have been repeatedly described

in the spiritual literature o all the worlds religions since ancient

times.

For example, the Christian Bible states, In the beginning

was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was

God. (John 1:1) Tis Word is the inner Sound. It has also been

called the Logos, Shabd, ao, Soundstream, Naam, or the Celestial

Music. Master Ching Hai says, It vibrates within all lie and sus-

tains the whole universe. Tis inner melody can heal all wounds,

ulll all desires, and quench all worldly thirst. It is all powerul

and all Love. It is because we are made o this Sound, that con-

tact with it brings peace and contentment to our hearts. Afer

listening to this Sound, our whole being changes, our entire

outlook on lie is greatly altered or the better.

Te inner Light, the Light o God, is the same Light reerred

to in the word enlightenment. Its intensity can range rom a subtle

glow to the brilliance o many millions o suns. It is through the

inner Light and Sound that we come to know God.

Te initiation into the Quan Yin Method is not an esoteric

ritual or a ceremony or entering a new religion. During the ini-tiation, specic instruction in meditation on the inner Light and

inner Sound is given, and Master Ching Hai provides the Spiritual

ransmission. Tis rst taste o Divine Presence is given in silence.

Master Ching Hai need not be physically present in order to open

this door or you. Te ransmission is an essential part o the

Method. Te technique themselves will bring little benet withoutthe Grace o the Master.

Because you may hear the inner Sound and see the inner

Light immediately upon initiation, this event is sometimes reerred

to as sudden or immediate enlightenment.

Master Ching Hai accepts people rom all backgrounds

and religious aliations or initiation. You do not have to changeyour present religion or system o belies. You will not be asked to

join any organization, or participate in any way that does not suit

your current lie-style.

However, you will be asked to become a vegetarian. A lie-

time commitment to the vegetarian diet is a necessary prerequisite

or receiving initiation.

Te initiation is oered ree o charge.

Daily practice o the Quan Yin Method o meditation and

the keeping o the Five Guidelines are your only requirements

afer initiation. Keeping the guidelines prevents you rom harm-

ing either yoursel or any other living being. Tese practices will

deepen and strengthen your initial enlightenment experience,

and allow you to eventually attain the highest levels o awakening

or Godhood or yoursel. Without daily practice, you will almost

Tereore, She teaches a method that can be practiced by every-

establishing an organization with a dues paying membership. She

will not accept money, prostrations, or gifs rom you, so you donot need to oer these to Her.

She will accept your sincerity in daily lie and meditational

practice to progress yoursel towards Sainthood.

Te Five Guidelines

1. Rerain rom harming any living being*;2. Rerain rom speaking what is not true;3. Rerain rom taking what is not mine;4. Rerain rom sexual misconduct;5. Rerain rom using intoxicants**;

* Tis guideline requires strict adherence to a vegan or lacto-veg-etarian diet. No meat, sh, poultry, eggs (ertilized or unertilized,in cakes, cookies, ice cream, etc.) or any orm o animal derivedproduct. You can however eat all dairy products just make surethe cheese does not contain animal rennet.

** Tis includes avoiding all poisons o any kind, such as alcohol,

drugs, tobacco, gambling, pornography and excessively violentlms or literature or video games.

A fully divine person is a fully-human being. A fully-human

being is fully divine. Right now we are only half a human being.

We do things with hesitation, we do things with ego. We dont

believe that it is God who arranges all this for our enjoyment,for our experience. We separate sin and virtue. We make a big

deal out of everything, and accordingly judge ourselves and

other people. We suffer from our own limitations about what

God should do. Understand? Actually God is inside us and we

limit Hirm. We like to enjoy ourselves and play, but we dont

know how. We just say to others, Ah! You shouldnt do that,

and to ourselves, I shouldnt do that. I must not do this. So

why should I be vegetarian? Yeah, I know. I am vegetarian

because the God inside me wants it.


When we are pure in our deeds, speech and thoughts, evenfor a second, all the deities, the gods and the guardian angels

will support us. At that moment, the entire universe belongs

to us and supports us, and the throne is there for us to reign

upon.
