Houston, Jr. (“Ken”), who will join us beginning Sunday, June 19, 2011 at our 10:00 a.m. wor- ship service. Rev. Houston has been appointed to Is- land in the Son UMC by the Southwest Texas Confer- ence of the United Method- ist Church, and comes to us following a nine-year appointment at Karnes City United Methodist Church. Rev. Ken is a life-long Texan, and has had a wide variety of past experience including in the oil & gas fields, in computer science (as an associate profes- sor), as a Baptist minister, and as a Prison Chaplain. We are excited to begin a new chapter in the life of Island in the Son and wish to invite everyone to come meet Rev. Ken and worship with us – whether you’ve been here before or as a first-time visitor! Island in the Son UMC is located at 10650 Highway 361 on Mustang Is- land, just 2 miles north of Packery Channel between Newport Pass Road and Beach Access Road #3. And, as always, “come as you are!” Kendal’s Korner June 18th is quickly approaching and that means that I will soon be embarking on the experience of a lifetime. Soon I will be in Europe learning about the cultures of Italy and Greece. I am so excited to be taking this trip; with world travel comes the knowledge of new cultures, places, outlooks, and history. The Roman and Greek cultures are some of the most interesting and historical cultures in the world and being submerged in these countries will allow me to have a better understanding of our world’s great history. Some of the things I am most excited to do are try the food, shop of course, and see all of the great Roman and Greek ruins. I am particularly excited to see the site of the first Olympic Games since I am so big on sports, especially track. As I take this wonderful journey I will keep all of my readers informed on all wonders I am seeing and the experiences I am having. I still cannot believe that in a matter of days I will be on a plane going overseas to Italy! It is truly going to be one of the greatest experiences of my life and I cannot wait! I also cannot express my gratitude to everyone who has made this trip possible. Thank you all so much! Keep your eyes out for the next few articles they are sure to be exciting! P.S. If you have any questions or comments you can e-mail me at [email protected]. Hola Senoritas! On June 9th, the PIPPs Chapter of Red Hats enjoyed a luncheon at Los Cabos Cafe & Cantina.
