Culture and Society

• Creoles• Bella Coola• Kanji (Hanji) or “Han Letters”

Author
“ Creoles represent a compromise among competing linguistic input, just as creole culture reflects a compromise among competing sociocultural traditions.” MEANING: that when you have to fight so social and culture traditions then it makes your area prone to language difusion because there is lack of strength in your culture and language, thus causing blending on language to fit everyday life.pont 2- Bella Coola, who speak SalishThey had an abundance of loanwords from their parent languages. Wakashan is the main one they borrowed from because of so much cultural affinity (meaning what you are culturally use too and adapted too) Point 3- Kanji origniated in chinesejapanese originally learned in order to better understand the chinese after wars and over the simplification of the language the kanji begain to futher its self from pronouncation also they made new kanji only in japanese use in order to distiguish japanese and give it more of an identity
