shortage of qualified and trained skill force especially teachers for this vital sector needs to be looked up by the government especially by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI). The Guest of Honour, Dr V.G. Somani, the newly appointed Drugs Controller General of India (DGCI), Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO), in his address, categorically stated that unless research projects are funded by the government agencies like Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Department of Bio‐Technology (DBT), Department of Scientific & Industrial Research (DSIR), etc., Indian drugs manufacturers hardly are keen for innovation & research work in this vital field due to financial constraints or proposition. He concluded, “Good educational practices as‐well‐as good regulatory practices remain a challenge, which means that we have to build confidence & competence in the system.”
