Indian Pharmaceutical Congress Association (IPCA) is a federation of five national associations as its constituents

namely Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA),

Indian Pharmacy Graduates Association (IPGA) and All India Drugs

Control Officers' Confederation (AIDCOC). The total strength of all the five federating bodies is more than twenty

five thousand professionals from different facets of Pharmacy. IPC is reckoned as one of the biggest conclaves of

Scientific Community in the country. The first Indian Pharmaceutical Congress (IPC) was held at Calcutta in

December, 1948 and was presided by the eminent Prof. M. L. Shroff as its President. There after every year Indian

Pharmaceutical Congress (IPC) is being organized successfully and is attended by eminent personalities from

India and abroad. The 65 IPC was held at Noida under the Presidentship of Sri. Atul Kumar Nasa. The

professionals elected to preside over the IPC during these years have been persons of great eminence in their

respective fields.

The Indian Pharmaceutical Congress (IPC) deliberates on various issues relating to industry,

academia and community pharmacy and evolves collective wisdom for formulating newer policies for the

country in the relevant fields for the betterment of mankind.

All India Drugs Control Officers' Confederation (AIDCOC) was formed on 28 December, 1995 at Visakhapatnam,

Andhra Pradesh and is headquartered in Mumbai. The formation of the Confederation is a result of untiring

efforts of many officers across the country with an objective to provide a common platform for the Drugs Control

Officers at the national level. The AIDCOC represents all the regulatory officers of the country working in the

Drugs Control Administration through their respective state associations. The AIDCOC is registered as a society

under the Registrations of Societies Act, 1860. It is registered as trust under Bombay Public Trust Act, 1850 and

also as Charitable Trust under Sec 80-G of the Income Tax Act 1961. The Confederation is affiliated to the Indian

Pharmaceutical Congress Association (IPCA).

The mission of AIDCOC is to achieve professional excellence through continuous training and better

coordination amongst the Drugs Control Officers and more interaction with fellow pharmacists to establish the

Pharmacist and Regulatory Officer as vital link in the chain of health care delivery. In a span of 19 years the

AIDCOC has become a strong and vibrant organization representing the Drugs Control Officers from the parts of

the country.

The AIDCOC instituted 'Best Drugs Inspector Award' for each state which is presented during the

Conventions of AIDCOC. The 'Best Drugs Control Officer Award' at National level is presented during the IPC

every year and 'Life Time Achievement Award' at the National level is presented once every five years also at the

IPC.

The AIDCOC organized its last Convention in Patna, Bihar on 30 November, 2013 with the theme

“Enforcement of Drug Legislations-Consumer Safety”. The AIDCOC in tune with one of its aims and objectives 'to

offer better services to the public' always strives to lead from the front in safeguarding the interests of the

consumers with respect to quality and pricing of drugs. The AIDCOC played a pivotal role in strengthening the

regulatory mechanism in the country for the past decade.

In the years to come, the AIDCOC will aggressively pursue its “National Project on Consumer

Awareness” a continuous education program and take-up the issue of strengthening Drugs Control

Organizations with Central and State Governments till the desired results are achieved.

Dear friends,

Venkat Jasti

We are ushering into a new beginning with the initiative of All India Drugs Control

Officers' Confederation (AIDCOC)

IPC AIDCOC

IPCA

IPCA

“INDIA PHARMACY OF THE WORLD- Role of Indian Regulators and Industry”

, From small beginnings come great things

As all of us are aware that the 66 will be hosted by the at Hitex, Hyderabad

during January 23 - 25 , 2015 and they are making a new beginning by conducting this IPC

in January rather than in December which is convenient to all because there is no worry on

account of holidays. Although it is the prerogative of the constituent body of who are

hosting the IPC to elect one of its members as the President of the IPCA instead the hosts

AIDCOC have chosen an Industry person (a Pharmacist) this year. Hope this new beginning

will usher in the positive outcome for our IPCA.

It is indeed my proud privilege to be elected as President of and I thank all the members for bestowing

upon me this great responsibility to preside over 66 IPC and supporting the initiative taken by AIDCOC.

All of us are aware that Indian Pharmaceutical Industry is at a critical stage because of the recent malicious

propaganda against Indian Pharma Industry and its regulators and the misinformation about the quality of generics

we supply all over the world. Hence in a bid to promote the brand image of Indian Pharma globally, Ministry of

Commerce, Govt. of India has embarked on image building exercise with a theme “India- Pharmacy of the World”.

Under this banner both Government of India and Industry will pool in their resources to counter the propaganda,

dispel the allegations and the misconceptions by campaigning in favor of the Indian Pharma products globally.

We the Pharmacists being an integral part of this Indian Pharmaceutical Industry, it is our responsibility to

lend our hand and voice to this brand building exercise of our Industry hence we chose this year's Congress theme as

The industry especially the exporters have the feeling that India's capabilities, including the world class

infrastructure and quality standards, were not presented well at the international markets. With the recent bad

publicity and global onslaught on Indian Pharma products it is high time that the Indian Regulators in collaboration

with Indian Industry has to educate and showcase our capabilities and strengths to global peers to restore their

confidence so that India remain as the “Pharmacy of the World”.

For this to happen the drug regulatory authorities should interact with their counter parts in other countries

regularly to allay the misplaced fears, if any, about the Indian industry and also to pass on information on the

regulatory measures being taken from time to time. To take this initiative forward we would like to invite to this

Congress the global regulators from USA, Europe, Latin America and Asia for an interactive meetings and panel

discussions to apprise them of the measures taken by both the regulators and industry to meet the global regulatory

requirements so that the misconceptions will be removed.

Also during this 66 IPC we would like give emphasis on providing a platform for the benefit of pharma

community about the best practices in pharmaceutical quality systems, the way forward for quality culture and

compliance with the involvement of Indian and global quality management thought leaders. The initiative of

AIDCOC for a new beginning is to be appreciated by one and all and we hope that this initiative and the result there of

should place our pharma professionals in the highest esteem in the industry we serve.

Since the growth of this industry is imperative for the success of our pharma professionals, I request each

and every one of us to contribute for the success of this 66 edition of Indian Pharmaceutical Congress.

It's time to start something new “ " and I trust in the magic of this

New Beginning.

Dear friends,

I am extremely delighted and honoured to communicate on behalf of the Organizing

Committee of 66 Indian Pharmaceutical Congress which is being organized at Hyderabad

on 23 , 24 and 25 January, 2015. The Congress, organized by the Indian Pharmaceutical

Congress Association [ ], is hosted by the All India Drugs Control Officers'

Confederation a national organization representing Drugs Control Officers in India and a

federating body of IPCA.

During last two decades, the landscape of pharmaceutical sector has changed dramatically and Indian

Pharmaceutical Industry has established its credentials as provider of quality medicines at affordable prices in

domestic and international market. Thanks to various Government initiatives, robust regulatory mechanism, focus

on quality and innovation, India is poised to become “Pharmacy of the World”. The Indian Pharmaceutical market

size is expected to reach US $ 24-34 billions by 2016 and Indian pharmaceutical industry has been able to penetrate

regulated market such as US and Europe. In this context, the theme of 66 Indian Pharmaceutical Congress “

” is appropriate and in line with need to

showcase India's capabilities.

Hyderabad which is a hub of pharmaceutical industry catering to the domestic and international market is

hosting Congress after a gap of almost ten years. The Organizing Committee comprising professionals from various

facets of pharmacy is excited and is geared up to organize this mega event in an excellent manner. The scientific

program specific to the theme is being finalized and the Congress will provide the platform for national and

international experts to share their rich experience and expertise. I am sure under the dynamic leadership of

Dr. Venkat Jasti, President, 66 IPC, the event will be a great success.

On behalf of Organizing Committee, I invite all professionals to participate in the 66 Indian Pharmaceutical

Congress.

With warm wishes.
