Adult Summer Reading Club

Once again, the Adult Summer Reading Club was a great success. The 188 club members read a total of 1,476 books over the summer! The End-of-Summer Party was held on September 8, where grand prizes and door prizes were awarded. A fun time was had by all. Watch for the Adult Winter Reading Club to start up in January. All weekly prizes and baskets were provided by the Friends of the Hunterdon County Library. The Grand Prize winner was Beverly Stoskus, pictured on the front page of The Scoop.

Need an Easier Way to Read? We Can Help!

The Hunterdon County Library has a new, no-cost service available to county residents. We have partnered with the New Jersey State Library Talking Book & Braille Center (TBBC) to serve residents whose ability to read may be affected by a physical impairment, a reading disability or a vision impairment. Anyone who cannot read standard print or who cannot hold a book or turn the pages of a book may be eligible for the services of the Outspoken Li-brary. If you are interested in these services, contact the Reference Department at the library (908-788-1434) for more information about eligibility and to obtain an application.

November

Art Show: Goran Stanic Photography During a very early childhood trip to the Adriatic Sea, Goran fell in love with his grandfather’s ele-gant shiny-metal-black-leather-sleek-lens camera; from that time on he was a photographer. Goran transitioned from admiring the camera to admiring the images he could create with it. Goran’s work reflects his passion to make every photograph ar-resting, beautiful and meaningful to the viewers.

Upper Level Display Cases: New Jersey Samplers From the collection of Quakertown artists/historians Dan and Marty Campanelli comes a de-lightful sampling of samplers lovingly stitched by New Jersey girls. Reproduced here in perfect de-tail, the needlework talent of these children and young ladies is astonishing both for its beauty and historical significance.

Lower Level Display Cases: Mini Paintings Sandy Watts creates these tiny colorful treasures just right for a dollhouse or a secret garden!

Lower Level: Fabulous Fall Fantasies Lebanon Museum art students let their imaginations run wild with papier mache sculptures.

Upper Level: Mini-Clinton The 1st graders of Clinton Public School built mod-els of their favorite Clinton places chosen during a class walk. Come upstairs and see how these bud-ding architects view their town. Which is YOUR fa-vorite building?

December

Art Show: Hunterdon County Camera Club How many ways are there of looking through a lens? As many as there are photographers to imagine the world!

Display Cases: Voorhees High School Environmental Club What are we doing for our environment? What are we doing to it? These students at VHS have some answers.
