items as I have had in the past so everyone will have to make up for my lack of space.

As we leave Williamsburg to return home, it is hope-ful that those of you who are traveling through Bal-timore or would make a short detour will stop by the USCGC Taney at 1500 for a tour and cookout on the fantail provided by Martin Taffe (the caterer who provided us with such a wonderful meal at our last reunion in Baltimore). The menu will be steak (the best) and all the fixings, dessert plus an open bar all for a minuscule cost of $24.00 per person. It is recommended that you book yourself a hotel/motel room for the night before continuing your home-ward trip. If you plan to take part in this fun filled evening, I must know as soon as possible so that I can give Martin a heads up as to how many will be onboard for dinner.

As we leave Baltimore, our sights and course will be toward Branson for our 2009 reunion. Many of the details are already worked out so go to our web page to make your reservations http://home.comcast.net/~whec33. You will not want to miss this reunion as it will be one you will never want to forget, not that any of the others were. There will be something special for everyone. You will not only leave Branson with a feeling of honor, pride and emotion but will have a heavy heart to go along with the memories you will have when you look back at the special holiday shows and the Veterans Memorial we will be seeing.

Do you like Andy Williams and Allen Edwards? Good, because they are on the agenda. Check out the Stone Castle Inn (Settle Inn) on our web page http://home.comcast.net/~whec33 and make your reservations very soon as this is Veterans week in Branson, and there will not be a room available for 100 miles by this time next year. I have a block of 40 rooms avail-able so get onboard now. Check out the specialty rooms, they are amazing!

Jim Orrock and I will be going back to Baltimore May 5th to the 12th to work on the USCGC Taney if anyone would like to join us. What better time to relive those days of yesteryear and stay onboard (chiefs quarters). I have challenged the other 327s

to come up with a crew to help restore and preserve the legacy of the best ships that ever sailed the mighty seas.

Remember, Marilyn Yuscavitch will make all your travel arraignments if you so wish. She can be con-tacted at, [email protected] or by calling 508-866-4269.

If you wish to purchases Ocean Station Tee Shirts in the future, please contact Doak Walker directly at [email protected] They are $18.00 each which includes shipping.

Please let me know if you think you are coming to the reunion so that I can order shopping coupons. I also need to give the Coast Guard base and restau-rants an approximate head count. I would like this info by June 1.

Semper Paratus,

Stan

Crossing the bar Sunset and evening star, And one clear call for me! And may there be no moaning of the bar, When I put out to sea.

But such a tide as moving seems asleep, Too full for sound and foam, When that which drew from out of the boundless deep Turns again home.

Twilight and evening bell, And after that the dark! And may there be no sadness of farewell when I embark;

For tho’ from out our borne of time and place The flood may bear me far, I hope to see my pilot face to face When I have crossed the bar.

March 8, 2008 meeting. From left: Bob Dinsmore, Jeanne Haviland, Barbara Barnes, Stan Barnes, Marilyn Yuscavitch, Marjorie Madden and John Madden.
