Red Suspenders Day means not only a parade, lots to see and eat, it also means music.

Following the 11 a.m., pa-rade, Daddow Park will be alive with music by Brad Evans and The Mutual Admiration Society.

This group has been per-forming together far and wide but made their first Gridley ap-pearance at a Quota Calendar fund raiser at Bob and Marie

Wheeler’s home where guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves while dancing to the classic rock tunes.

Lead singer Pinkie Rideau has a fantastic voice and lucky for Gridley she is performing here Saturday as she is retir-ing in December. Her sched-ule included a performance at Pilot Peak Winery in Grass Valley last Saturday and this Saturday she will belt out the

blues until 3:30 p.m.Brad Evans is of course syn-

onymous with music and play-ing the keyboard beautifully. The group has been playing at the Bungalow Bar the sec-ond Friday of the month since August.

Eric Webber from “The Blues Cruise,” with Tommy Castro and BB King will join the group Saturday playing the saxophone.

Ian Merrill will be play-ing lead guitar who makes mouths drop when he plays Jimi Hendrix songs.

This will be a great time for dancing and singing while checking out the many won-derful booths in Daddow Park and grabbing something to eat.

Brutality Sounds DJ will be performing in Rotary Park from 8 a.m., to 4 p.m.

Red Suspenders Day will mean plenty of great music in both parks

The Gridley Rotary Club is sponsoring a Tri-Tip Sandwich Fund Raiser for Melissa Hetherwick, 29, who was seriously injured Sunday, February 24, 2013 in Downtown Oroville. Hetherwick, the daughter of Ilona and the late Bob Hetherwick, lives in Oroville with her husband Justin Younger and daughter Leila, and is expecting her second child next month.

Tomorrow, Saturday, May 18, 2013, during Red Suspenders Day, Tri-Tip Sandwiches will be available from 11 to 4 p.m., in Daddow Park and whole tri-tips can also be purchased to take home for dinner that night. Gridley Rotary Club is doing the cooking and happy to help the daughter of a former member.

Hetherwick sustained a shattered arm and wrist which will never have normal use of her hand or fingers according to

Suspenders Daydoctors. She is due June 29 but will have to have a c-section be-cause of injuries to her pelvis. The accident caused Hetherwick’s left pelvic bone to be broken, upper and lower.

A bank account has been established at Rabobank in Oroville to help with the exorbitant medical bills as Hetherwick’s medical insurance expire this month from her previous job at Rabobank in Paradise. Checks can be made out to “Melissa Hetherwick for Medical Expenses Fund” and can be either dropped off or mailed to Rabobank, 2227 Myers Street, Oroville, Ca 95965 or delivered to The Wishing Corner where Melissa’s mother Ilona works and deposits will be made the same day.

Hetherwick has no idea how much insurance the other driver has but whatever it is, it will be divided by nine people including the other driver herself.

Hetherwick is at home and requires round the clock care from her family.
