As our principal, I am so incredibly proud of all the work and dedication put in by the writers and editors. The interest and enthusiasm that has been shown for this paper is inspiring. It is my hope that the Good Shepherd Gazette provide a way for our students to write about things that are important to them, while letting members of the Good Shepherd family know what is happening in the school and in our community. To those on staff: keep writing, and keep making all of us proud! Mr. O’Brien A Great School By Gabriella Garomo G.S.C.A is a great school. Everybody gets treated equally and fairly. The teachers are so nice, caring, and loving, and they teach each student something new everyday. They also make sure everybody is happy and enjoying their day! Every morning we gather together for a morning prayer, which our principal Mr.O’Brien leads us in. As the prayers are over we head to our classes to begin our day! On some days we have special classes like Italian, music, computer, and gym! As a school community we always love to show our school spirit, like every Friday we have a $1.00 ice-cream sale from which the money goes to our school to buy new things like gym equipment and much more. We also have $1.00 dress down which always goes to a great cause like breast cancer or alzheimer’s. What we also love to do to show school spirit is we have Catholic Schools Week, we have this one week every year. We do projects, In all G.S.C.A is a great school and everyone can agree, we have so many friends that some of us have known for over 10 years! Being in this school is a real blessing, our parents work so hard each day just to lets us go here, just think how much you have learned over the past year or years of being here. At Good Shepherd Catholic Academy everyone gets treated equally and fairly, and in all this is the best school anyone could imagine going too! A Proud Principal

Today marks the first school newspaper at Good Shepherd in many years. To those on staff: keep writing, and keep making all of us proud!

including its rainbow bagel and tiedye and marble ones. The shop also caters holiday gatherings and weddings.

Some of the reviews this reporter found on the internet said, “Amazing” and “Creative and delicious”. I have tried the Rainbow bagel myself and it was yummy. The shop was temporarily closed in the past and on February 16th they announced that the store will be closed “indefinitely”. Scott Rossilo and Francine LaBarbara said, “It’s been really crazy, but a good crazy”.

Book Review By Julia Gnad    In this review I will be reviewing the book The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey. This book is all about the main character Cassie Sullivan, and her story. She had a regular life, going to school, and doing other normal activities, until one day when the ship arrived with the Others on it. The Others were aliens. After that, strange things started to happen. These were called “Waves.” The First Wave was darkness. The Second Wave, only the lucky survived. The Third Wave, only the unlucky survived. After that, only one rule applies: Trust no one, because no one knows what the Others look like, except Cassie must learn how to survive on her own, but she breaks the rule, and meets Evan Walker. Who is he? Will they survive?

dress down every day, and just have a lot of fun!  There is also a movie that goes along with the book, so if you’re not really a reader, you can still find out what happens! I loved this book, it was very wellwritten and it kept me in suspense. I felt like I was there with the characters. I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone who loves to read science fiction books, or anyone who loves to read in general! I give this book five stars!

An Interview with Mrs. Seliste

The Significance  of Lent By Alessandra DePaulis  Lent is one of the holiest times of the year for Catholics. We prepare for forty days for the resurrection of Jesus Christ, which is a joyous occasion.Before Easter Sunday, Catholics prepare in different ways. Some of us feel that it is just a time to give up something. Others feel that it is a time for them to do special things such as go to Mass every day before they go to work or school. One special thing that the students of Good Shepherd Catholic Academy are doing is keeping  mission box. We put our spare change in it throughout all the days of Lent. This money will go to the poor families that are not as fortunate as we are. Once Easter Sunday arrives, Catholics all over the world can

Great New TV Shows By Elizabeth Careaga Although it is already March and we are all well aware of the fact that the New Year is already here, I believe it is still necessary to break down some of the must see TV shows of 2016.  One of the most watched shows in America is a big shock (written sarcastically)... “The Walking Dead.” This show follows the plot of survival in a zombie apocalypse, with lots of drama and walkers in between. The midseason premiere aired on February 14th, and it started with a bang, quite literally because of the gun shots.  Another TV show that critics are raving about in its first season is “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.” Unlike “The Walking Dead,” this show is not very well known. This show is about a misfit group of villains and heroes teaming up to stop an evil immortal man, Vandal Savage. They travel through time and meet people along the way who can help the cause. The pilot aired on January 21st and truly hit the ground running.  These great shows may have already aired on television, but it is never too late to start your own binge marathon!

  Local Sports

By Thomas Byrnes and Sophia Garomo  People should listen more to local sports than professional sports. you should listen more to local sports than professional sports because you can learn more about your community. local sports cantain basketball, baseball, hockey and soccer. local sports are fun for the kids but probably not for the adults.

Some Local High School teams have been winning some sports. Xaverian won the Football division . Good Shepherd won the baseball division for the last 3 years . Good Shepherd Catholic Academy hopes they win for their division this year.

Sometimes you want the clock to go so much faster,

But trust me being in class is so much better,

Good Shepherd Catholic Academy is the place for me,

I have so many wonderful friends, And I never want that to end.

 An Angelic War

By Alexandra Falgiano  Chapter 1 It all started three years ago when a war broke out between heaven and hell. These beings destroyed most of the United States, including my home in New York. Half of the city has been destroyed by war. The other half has been destroyed by the people who used to live in the city, the city they called their home. They looted most of the stores for cash and anything worth money.  I, and a friend in my camp group, were on a mission from our campsite to run out to a local convenience store and pick up a few things. The camp contains my family, my best friends, a few of my classmates, and their families.

However, there are a few people that I don’t know. They have become part of our group over time, but before this apocalypse started I didn’t know any of them. My mom called me, handed me the list and says “Be careful out there and make sure you keep an eye out for a candy bar. Any bar will do but make sure it has no peanuts, your brother doesn’t have his medication anymore.”   The list included: anything canned, clothing, batteries, tools, and seeds. I called my best friend James and told him what we had to get. He decided to come with me and told his parents about the mission. The way to the convenience store was easy and took no trouble, but right before we got into the convenience store, everything went wrong. A loud bang sounded and I blacked out. Right before we hear the bang I heard James scream “Paige watch out!”   To be continued…  All Alone  By: Taylor ColeHector & Elizabeth OliveriDisalvio Chapter 1 Worst Day of My Life!
