Happy Holidays!
What a fantastic term it has been for the students. With our focus on
‘Space and Earth Science’ the children studied planets, our solar system,
space exploration and deep into space.
They enjoyed reading, writing, research, painting,
coding and many more activities all related to the
topic and by the end of the term our learning portal
was simply bursting with student work.
It has been a wonderful step forward for our school and for our students.
The children have all made progress academically and with their
personal learning skills. They have been simply buzzing with
excitement, talking and working alongside each other.
My personal thanks of course go to the wonderful staff we have here at
our school. They are all committed to the best outcomes for our students
now and into the future and truly are an inspiration to work alongside.
Thank you also to our families and community for your ongoing support
of our students and school. Congratulations boys and girls on a fantastic
term! I hope everyone has a nice holiday break. Mr G

Term 2 Space Recount Snippets
T h e G o l d e n Q u i l l
“The
darkest
nights
produce
the
brightest
stars.”
This term we have been learning about space. We built
rockets and tested them. We wanted to see how far they
could go. We made pictures of astronauts and pictures of
planets. We did a planet study. I did Mercury. I know
Mercury looks like the moon. The craters are billions of
years old. They were made when the solar system formed.
Mercury has no moons. Emily - Year 2 On our excursion to the
Mudgee Observatory we saw
the constellation Scorpio and
the Southern Cross. We also
saw the planet Jupiter, shooting
stars and the International
Space Station. This term has
been great. I have loved all the
things we have done.
Claire - Year 6
This term I’ve learnt what astronauts wear and do in
space. We have studied constellations and learnt how
many there are. I enjoyed making our cross-sections of
the Gate-way, making the details for it was fun. This
term was the best! Lauchlan - Year 6
We have been learning about phases of the moon.
The phases of the moon have names like new moon,
crescent moon and also full moon. We have also been
doing word of the day. We have been learning lots of
space words like rocket and astronaut. I really enjoyed
this term. Beth - Year 3
This term we have been
learning all about space.
I have studied about the nine
planets. They orbit the Sun.
The moon is orbiting the
Earth and the dark side of the
moon protects the Earth from
meteorites and asteroids.
Charlotte - Year 3
This term we have learnt about
straw rockets. We made bottle
rockets. Edmond - K
We did cool space art . I did a rocket made out of
coloured paper. I also did a planet artwork. We have a
special place for putting spacey stuff. It’s called the
portal. We put space art and space books in there.
When we first saw it we were amazed! The best part
of Term 2 was all of it! This term was great! All
thanks to the teachers. Toby - Year 4
We learnt about constellations.
The Southern Cross is a
constellation. Scorpio is also a
constellation. It was such a fun
term. Bryton - Year 4
I liked the straw rockets!

Visitors
Our Little Diggers Hudson and Chelsea had a
great afternoon with play, a story and even some
athletics training! Imogen visited the library for a
story with Mum. We look forward to welcoming
our Diggers after the holidays. First afternoon is
Friday 2nd August. Wear your jeans and bring a
gold coin donation to support Jeans for Genes.
Mannie visited to borrow from
the Bathurst Library Depot and
Kerri was spotted conducting
a village tour for visiting
students. The Library Depot
will be closed from Friday 5th
July. Re-opens 23rd July.

Semester 1 Show-off Our students were so proud to show off their classroom and their
Semester 1 work to family and friends yesterday afternoon. Everyone
was very impressed with the standard of student work and also the
knowledge they had about it. Thanks for the donuts Hayley and Lea!
