  • The Globe Theatre is a theatre created in the Elizabethan Era. It was built, so plays could continue to be shown in London. This benefited the King and Queen because this is where the majority of their entertainment came from, along with their profit.

  • The Globe Theatre was constructed by an acting group called the Lord Chamberlain's Men, later renamed the Kings Men. This group included William Shakespeare, Richard Burbage, and William Kemp.

  • 11 576- Richard Burbages father built The Theatre in London, which is where the Lord Chamberlain's men, acted. 11 597- The lease expired on The Theatre. 11 598- The Lord Chamberlains Men started to build the Globe theatre from the wood of the original Theatre. 11 599- The Globe Theatre was finished. 11 613- The original Globe Theatre caught fire due to a cannon shot malfunction during a performance of Henry VIII. The Theatre burned down to the ground in less than 2 hours. 11 614- The second Globe Theatre was built on the same spot as the original Globe Theatre. 11 616- William Shakespeare died. (Possibly from Typhus)

  • The Globe Theatre is located in London, England. The new model of the theatre is 200 meters (about 656 ft) away from the original site.

  • The Globe was owned by the Lord Chamberlain's Men who were also shareholders in the Globe Theatre. Two of the Globe shareholders owned double shares of the whole, Richard and Cuthbert Burbage; the other four men, Shakespeare, John Heminges, Augustine Phillips, and Thomas Pope, owned a single share.

  • The Globe Theatre was built because the lease on the original Theatre, in London, was finished, so they decided to destroy that theatre and build the Globe Theatre, using the Theatres original wood.

  • 1642- The Puritans shut down the Globe Theatre. 1989- The site of the old Globe Theatre was found. 1993- Led by Sam Wanamaker, construction on the new Globe Theatre. 1996- A modernized version of the Globe Theatre was completed. 1997- The newly constructed theatre was officially opened on June 12 by Queen Elizabeth II with a showing of Henry V.
