TGS Newsletter 8 th August 2020 - Nursery to Grade 2 Page 1 of 12 FROM THE COORDINATOR’S DESK… Personality Isn’t Permanent. Your personality changes over time regardless of intention. But once you make it intentional, your level of change will be dramatic and directed, not random. As the actress Lily Tomlin explained, looking back over her life and career, “I always wanted to be somebody, but now I realize I should have been more specific.” You are going to become someone. That much is certain. The question is: Who are you going to be? And how specific and intentional will you be in that creation process? The more specific the vision, the clearer the path. Is your personality actually fixed and unchangeable? No, it’s not. And there is a lot of data, especially newly unearthed data, that proves this. Your personality is not the most fundamental aspect of who you are. Instead, your personality is surface-level, transitory, and a by-product of something much deeper. What matters are the choices you make. Regardless of who you’ve been, you no longer have to be that person. As you’ll soon discover, you actually aren’t that person now, and you won’t be that person in the future. You can be the narrator of your life’s story. Context changes everything. Like history, which constantly changes with time and perspective, our own personal narratives also adapt or change over time and with each retelling. One reason for this is that your memory is not an inert filing cabinet. Instead, it is fluid and constantly changing as you have new experiences. In fact, your memory changes by simply recalling a particular memory. Each is a web of connections, and when a new connection is integrated into a memory, the whole of the memory changes instantly and imperceptibly. Buckle your seat belts. You’re bound to hear something you’ve never heard before. Something that could change your life. In Personality Isn’t Permanent, Dr. Benjamin Hardy crushes an outdated paradigm and gives you the process to create a bigger, bolder future. Benjamin Hardy’s book is a game changer. It is a book that will show you the most effective way for intentionally and strategically becoming the person you intend and choose to be.
