FMOD Studio now partners with pro effect developers to bring them into your game for synthesis, 3D audio and mastering. Produce studio level quality output with FMOD Studio.

Engine Integrations – Integrate natively with Unity

FMOD has always been the default audio engine behind many of the top game engines such as Unity, CryEngine, Scaleform and Havok Vision Engine. Now FMOD Studio natively integrates directly into the Unity interface, and the FMOD Studio tool will allow connection to the game while it is running, allowing for live mixing, monitoring and editing.

New Digital Audio Workstation inspired multi-track music and event editing interface

The enhanced interface is a major contributor to the creation of superior game audio. A familiar pro audio interface will allow the creation of slicker, more professional results in a fraction of the time.

A powerful multi-track event editor, giving you both flexibility and control.

The streamlined interface cleans up your screen real estate, letting you focus solely on creating great audio. The new multi-track editor allows you to create more complex and varied events with minimal effort and less resources. Music and event editing has been merged and a new effect deck allows you to add Pro level effects and control the output of the entire event at a glance.

1. All screens have a search bar in the top left for fast searching and (color) tagging of events and busses.

2. FMOD Studio represents a timeline as well as parameters, so users can drop sounds into a time track with sample accurate positioning. This will also allow branching logic so the time cursor can jump between segments of the track for interactive music.

3. FMOD Studio’s event editor designed to incorporate effect chains with automation curves for all controls. Instruments and mixer snapshot triggers are displayed as the boxes on the layer’s top track.

4. Create custom 3D roll-off curves and ADSR envelopes can be added to sounds to create more dynamic environments.

5. As in the mixer, effects can be added pre and post fader.

6. The effect deck shows that modulators can be applied to any control (knob), so over time control can randomize, ramp up and down according to an AHDSR envelope, or even a signal coming from a sidechain source!.

7. Stereo, 5.1 or 7.1 mixes can be set up on any bus. Panning is represented graphically and can handle any speaker mode or configuration. The run-time engine will position the audio in the correct speakers at run-time.

8. All metering can be performed in realtime, while the game is running.

9. 3D positioning can be previewed with the built in 3d preview control

10. Quantize instrument playback to the bar or beat for exact musical timing, even for SFX!

1. The FMOD Studio mixer contains a familiar channel strip interface with buses, sends and returns, VCAs, effect chains, side-chaining, and mixer snapshots.

2. The bus tree on the left closely follows the old ‘category’ view in FMOD Designer.

3. Each bus is represented by a channel strip and contains a volume fader, mute/solo and controls for sends.

4. All strips are metered in realtime when connected to a game, so you can check your levels for each bus, and make sure they don’t clip, or are at the right levels in comparison to the rest of the mix.

5. Each bus can contain an effect deck, to add processing for whole groups of events, and groups of sub-buses.

6. EBU R-128 Compliant loudness metering lets you get professional quality metering for quality mastering for your game.
