Influence by the thoughts and services of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj,

Mahatma Phule, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Sant Gadge Baba, Karmaveer Bahurao

Patil and Comred Abasaheb Kakade striked out to bring down the galaxy of

education to the rural part of Ahmednagar District. He champion the cause

for upliftment of poor, down trodden people, 'The Friends of the Depressed

Leage' was established. It was registered on 6th March, 1953.

The Institution is true to it's name 'The Friends of the Depressed

League' for the last sixty years. The elighted people of the Dalit class in the

Shevgaon and Pathardi Taluka are the fruits of the pious work of education

of the pious work of education of the institution. The people neglected by

society are provided home and education by the Institution.

Honourable Chairman Advocate Vidyadharji Kakade is successfully

running the institution established by Com. Abasaheb Kakade. Now the

institution is heading towards progress day by day. The institution is

coming forth as one of the renowned and qualitative institute of Ahmednagar

District.

Aims and Objectives of the Institute

Uplifting of downtrodden and Dalit people in the field of education

and society and provide them all kind of facilities for educational and social

upliftment. To stop their exploitation and try to give them egual

opportunities to them. To encourage them the institution offers

Scholerships, prizes, awards and occasionally honours them on certain

stages.

The institution arranges various camps and seminars for girls to make

them self reliant and self protected through various sports. The institution

has started many courses to give the advanced knowledge of computer and

Information Technology. The enterprising and talented and meritorious

people from the society. To fulfill the above objectives, the institute has

Death anniversary of comrade abasaheb kakade

28 th Death Anniversary of the Founder of F.D.L., Comrade

Abasaheb Kakade was held at Abasaheb Kakade Vidyalaya, Shevgaon on

9th October, 2006 with great zeal and enthusiasm. The function was

preceded over by Raosaheb Kasabe (The great Thinker), Mr. Babanraoji

Dhakane (Former, Cabinet Minister Government of India), Smt. Nishatai

Pansare (Social Worker) were the chief guests of the functions. All these

guests were welcomed by the chairman of F.D.L.

On this auspicious occasion foundation stone of Shri Sant Gadge

Maharaj Chattralaya Shevgaon's new buildings was led in Gat No. 1112 at

the hands of all the guests.

Elocution and Debate competitions were held on this occasion at the

district level. These competitons are held in four groups. The winners of

Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra open University has started

Diploma in School Management. For successful administration 22 senior

employees have completed the course.

Resolution to start science faculty Abasaheb Kakade Junior College is renowned for its Arts Faculty.

After S.S.C. meritorious students seek admission in science faculty, which is

not available in our institute. According to the request of many parents and

guardians the institution has taken decision to start XIth science faculty from

the academic year 2007-08.

teacher's site visits To have advanced knowledge of modern education system and to

have chance to learn more from some advanced school. The institution has

arranged site visits for teachers. This year, the teachers have visited

"Millennium National School, Pune", "Dhruva Academy, Sangamner", and

"Priti Sudhaji English Medium School, Rahata".

trust's proposed and completed constructions 1. Two rooms with latrine and bathrooms are completed on the

playground of Abasaheb Kakade Vidyalaya, Shevgaon. A guard is

appointed for site supervision and protection of the playground. An

accommodation for a family is provided on the playground.

2. The school has also obtained a grant of Rs. 1,00,000/- (Rs. One Lakh)

from Z.P., Ahmednagar for leveling the playground. With this grant

and an institute's share the play ground has been made upto date.

3. Three rooms of Abasaheb Kakade Vidyalaya, Shevgaon has been

repaired during this year.

4. The Institution has decided to repair plaster and pavement of old

rooms at Gat. No. - 1111.

5. The Institute has also decided to build wall compound around the

playground and wrestling pit at Gat. No. - 1112.

6. The Institute has undertaken the four storey, building for Shri Sant

Gadage Maharaj Chhatralaya, Shevgaon at Gat. No. – 1112. This

building is nearing completion rapidly.

7. The institute has repaired four rooms in Gat. No. – 1111 by the

Pathardi Road, Converting them into two bigger rooms. Their tin

foofs was changed.

These 26 Branches are run by the institute. 309 employees are

serving and 9436 students are taking their education.

The institute has started Semi-English classes in many branches.The

institute has taken a step forward and launched 'Advanced Semi-English

Classes'. Special attention is paid to the quality of the students. Primary

school is also run here. The strength of these schools are increasing fastly.

Cultural programmes, Medical checkup, Competitive exams, Teacher-

Guardian meetings, Site visits, Mid-day meal, Tours, Annual gathering,

Anniversaries of Great Heros-Leaders of the nation, Rakshabandhan,

Ganesh Festival are arranged and celebrated for all around development of

the students.

Every year, extra classes and co-curricular activities are arranged in

every branch of the institution. The students are topping in various fields.

Sports competition, debate, Exams, Schools Adolescence, life skill

education programmes etc. are taught in schools and many students have

achieved success. In the H.S.C. Exam 2006, Mr. Kale Suresh Stood 9th in

the merit list of Pune Divisional Board, who was the student of Abasaheb

Kakade Junior College, Shevgaon. Miss Khase Pratibha Abasaheb stood

first in Information Technology subject securing 100 marks, who was also

the student of Abasaheb Kakade Junior College, Shevgaon. In the same year

in the S.S.C. Exam, Miss Panage Amruta Ashok stood 12th in the merit list

of S.S.C. Board Pune Division. The results of the H.S.C. and S.S.C. Exams

of all branches are excellent and bright.

Boarding house section The institute runs many boarding houses for poor and down-trodden

boys and girls of all backward categories. All the residents of these

boarding houses are well prepared for examinations. Night classes,

adaptation scheme, awards to meritorious students, cantact with the class

teachers and subject teachers is kept for the progress of these students.

Along with academic development, special attention is paid to the

mental and physical development of the inmates. Medical check-up

inculcation of values, recitation, sports competition, oratory and debate

competition, Gadage Maharaj Gram Swachhata, Ganesh Festival, Raksha-

Bandhan, Birth days of students, Anniversaries of national heroes and

leaders etc. are arranged.

Future plans of institution The administration of the institute is running smoothly. The institute

has kept in view some aims and objectives and trying to fulfill them.

Time is changing fast. As a requirement of coming era, the institute

aims at making learner a good and effective user of English. Changing

society needs skillful and healthy education. Today's education can not

fulfill these tasks. Now a days the competition is not between man and man

or country and country, but it is universal competition. On the background

of great Indian Culture, we had to adopt modern educational systems

alongwith our cultural heritage. Institution is not only confined to

educational field, but also infinite welfare of society. The activities of the

institute are manifold.

As a part of all-round development of rural student, the institute

wishes to provide many facilities, such as computer knowledge, advanced

semi classes, sports facilities, C.B.S.C. curriculum, etc.

The institute wishes to have a well – equipped building with modern

equipments and articles at Shevgaon for it's "Abasaheb Kakade Vidyalaya,

Shevgaon". The institute wants to sponsor 'Nirmal Scholarship' for the poor

and promising students of Boarding Houses from the year 2007-08.

With all these dreams, the institute is proceeding forward. All the

dignitaries of the institute officers and committee members of devoted to

this aim. Each and every member of the institute is trying his/her level best

Above importance of education told by Mahatma Phule in his

thoughts and those thoughts were put into practice by Comrade Abasaheb

Kakade by establishing 'The Friends of the Depressed League, Shevgaon' an

educational institute. This institute opened highschools and boarding houses

in Ahmednagar district in rural talukas such as Shevgaon, Pathardi, Karjat

and Ahmednagar for the poor, needy, uneducated, working class of down

trodden people, who were away from the main stream of educational society

and fulfilled the name of the institute 'The Friends of the Depressed League'.

The institute is progressing gradually towards it's aim putting this dream in

view had completed various works in the year 2007-08.

Felicitation programme Keeping in view for the progress of Shevgaon Taluka in educational

field and inspire the students and appreciate them, the institute always

arranges felicitation programmes for the meritorious students of std. Xth,

XII th, who have passed in the S.S.C. & H.S.C. Board examination and

secured first three positions are honoured and also honours the successful

candidates in various competitive examination and sports by the institute

every year irrespective any institute. In this function the employee, who

acquires merit in any field are also felicitated. The employee of the institute,

who are getting retired in near future are also honoured. In this function, the

people from society also contribute for the good will and sympathy of the

This programme was presided over by the President of the institute and in

building committee, Z.P., Ahmednagar.

2. On the day 30 th January 2008, Mr. Pujari Pradeep Goraksha was

honoured for achieving grand success by securing gold medal in M.Tech.

Exam held by 'Nirma Unitversity of science & technology, Ahmedabad' and

in the vary function, Late Mr. Dhole Dinkar Dnyanba, who died of heart-

attack was honoured posthumously by the institute and his family members

were also called for that. He was the employee of Abasaheb Kakade

Vidyalaya, Shevgaon. For this function, Mrs. Shalinitai Vikhe (President,

Z.P. Ahmednagar) was the Chair person and Mr. Babasaheb Bose (Director,

Shrigonda Co. Sugar Factory, Shrigonda), Mr. Vijayatai Ambade (Member,

Z.P. Ahmednagar) were the Chief Guests.

3. On the date 29 th March 2008, on behalf the institute, Adv. Ramnathji

Wagh (Vice-President, Ahmednagar Jilha Maratha Vidya Prasarak Samaj,

Ahmednagar was honoured for achieving Jeevan Sadhana Gaurav Puraskar

of Poona University and the past student of the institute Mr. Uttamrao Karpe

(Additional Chief Executive Officer, Z.P. Ahmednagar) was honoured for

securing state government's 'Gunawant Officer Puraskar'. This programme

was presided over by Dr. T.K. Purnale and various honourable chief guests.

Honour of Meritorious TeachersThe institute honours the meritourious students of Std. Xth & XII th

every year. This year also the programme was arranged. But this year, the

teachers who taught to Std. Xth and Std. XII th classes are honoured. At this

suitcase, a conconut and rose etc. This programme was presided over by

Mrs. Meerabai Lande Patil ( The Chair Person, Krishi & Pashu Sanvardhan

Samiti, Z.P. Ahmednagar).

Death Anniversary of Late Com. Abasaheb KakadeThis programme was arranged as usual. This programme is as social

awakening in this society. The focus of the programme is on the problems

of farmers, workers, illiterate, Dalit. This is the feature of this programme.

This year, on 9th October, the programme was arranged at

Chapadgaon. This programme was presided over by Hon. Raju Shetty

(M.L.A.) and the main leader of Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana,

Maharashtra. The Chief guests were Hon. Mr. Dr. Appasaheb Bhujbal (Ex-

krishi Director of Maharashtra) and lemon producers Sangh, Maharashtra.

Hon. President Mr. Mukundrao Gaikawad, Senior Agriculturist, Hon. Mr.

Gulabrao Dere, Hon. Mr. Madhukarraoji Katre, etc.

In this programme, many speakers put their thoughts. The chairman

of the institute, Adv. Vidyadharji Kakade, in his introductory speech put

forth Abasaheb's life achievements and Adv. Kakade put forth his demands

they are as follows.

villages by pipeline.

2. Farmers cotton crop to be insured by the Maharashtra Government.

3. The loan to farmers should be provided to purchase cotton seed

4. The Government should give guarantee rate of Rs.2500/- per

quintal for cotton.

These resolution were put forth and passed by a voice-vote in the

function. In the function, the president Mr. Raju Shetty (M.L.A.) spoke

about farmer's situation and government's false policies about farm produce.

He also spoke about the suicides of farmers due to debateness, loss in milk

production. More than 10,000 people wer present in the function. The

institute has fulfilled its moto of social commitment by conducting such a

programme.

Arranging district level debet competition. Every year, these

competitions are held in four section/ group. The winners of the competition

were held in four section groups. The winners of the competition are

awarded in the function. More than hundred students took part in debeting

competition. These competition were held at Shahartakali, Amrapur and

Shevgaon 4,5,6 th October 2007.

Gadge Maharaj'. The death anniversary of Saint Gadge Maharaj was held

Maharaj's dress students held morning procession through the various parts

of the city. Many honourable persons delivered their speeches on the life
