The Fox and the Leopard attended the same high school, and had all the same friends. The Fox was always the smartest girl in her classes . The Leopard was always starting drama with the other girls in her grade.

They had always been the best of

friends

One day, they got into an argument that changed everything

The Leopard was bragging about how her giant, beautiful spots could get her any guy in the school. She went on and on for an entire class period while the fox listened in disgust, shaking her head.

During passing period, the Fox approached the Leopard. “Quit acting like you’re the queen bee. Beauty isn’t all about what your fur looks like.” “Yeah right,” said the Leopard. “I can get more boys with my spots than you can with your brain.” “I will prove you wrong,” shouted the Fox. “You’ll learn once and for all that looks aren’t as important as what’s on the inside.”

For a week straight, the Fox and the Leopard competed to see who could get the most guys. The Leopard batted her eyes and showed off her spots to get there attention. The Fox, instead, would attempt to hold conversations with the boys in her grade. It was proving more difficult than she had anticipated.

At the end of the week, the Leopard and the Fox held a vote to see who had proved the other wrong. Did more people appreciate the beauty of knowledge and personality? Or was everyone really concerned only with physical appearance?

When all their male classmates voted, it was unanimous. Every single one of them agreed they found the Leopard more attractive, even though she was literally dumber than a doornail. The Fox shrugged in defeat, and thought to herself. “If beauty captures the eye, and personality captures the heart…I guess high school boys only use their eyes.”The Leopard just smiled, finding peace in knowing that she would never really have to work for anything as long as she kept her spots.
