Bullying Prevention The Victim of Bullying, Harassment, or Intimidation Form (ask for the green packet) has been developed and available in our front office to provide a vehicle by which acts of bullying, harassment, or intimidation can be reported.

A student is bullied when he or she is exposed to intentional negative actions on the part of one or more students, and whose ability to participate in or benefit from the school's educational programs or activities is adversely affected. Bullying usually refers to behavior that occurs repeatedly and over time.

A student is harassed when he or she perceives or actually experiences discomfort with identity issues in regard to race, color, national origin, gender, disability, sexual orientation, religion, or other identifying characteristics, real or perceived, and whose ability to participate in or benefit from the school's educational programs or activities is adversely affected.

A student is intimidated when he or she is subjected to intentional action that seriously threatens and induces a sense of fear and/or inferiority, and whose ability to participate in or benefit from the school’s educational programs or activities is adversely affected.

If your child has felt bullied, harassed, or intimidated, come to our front office and ask for the form mentioned above (the green packet), fill it out completely and return it to the principal. Students also have the option of submitting anonymous notes into our anti-bullying mailbox in the cafeteria.

STRANGER SAFETY

A stranger is someone we have never seen, or it may be someone we see every day but do not know.

For example, we may see the ice cream truck in our neighborhood every day, but we don't really know the driver. Therefore, that person should be considered a stranger.

Remember, strangers are not always scary or mean looking. As a matter of fact, they may have a smile on their face and talk in a soft, friendly voice but remember, they are still a stranger.

Dealing with strangers:

• If a stranger approaches either on foot or in a vehicle, take a giant step backwards.

• If they attempt to talk to you or ask for help for any reason, yell "NO" as loud as you can.

• Run away as fast as you can, while yelling "NO". • Tell someone (a teacher, a parent or police officer or any other trusted adult)

about what happened immediately.
