Conexpo is not exactly a truckmount show although many of thecompanies in the market offerboth truck mounted lifts and boomtrucks. This year seven companiesproducing truck mounted liftsare exhibiting.

We begin the tour in the Gold Lot,starting with Altec, the largestproducer of vehicle mounted liftsin North America. The companyspecialises in producing aerial liftdevices for the lighting, signs,telecommunications, tree care andelectric utility trucks with workheights of up to 130ft (39m).

Continue on towards the Tadanostand and find Hydra Platformswhich produces truck and trailermounted under-bridge units whichfeature a patented scissor typeseparator to reach over parapets.The truck mounted units are alsoself propelled thanks to a trackedtype outrigger system. Next stop is the Blue Lot where youwill find Reachmaster. The company,not known for its truck mounts inthis part of the world, is showing a100ft (30m) spider lift superstructuremounted onto a mid sized truck bya specialist dealer. It is looking forfeedback on the installation. Ourfinal stop is Time Manufacturingwhich owns Condor and Versaliftbrands. Expect to see Versalift'snew VST and TEL aerials aimed atelectric utility, sign and light, trafficmaintenance, launched late lastyear at the ICUEE Show they offerworking heights up to 60ft (18m).

El incremento en el uso de plataformassobre mástil en norteamérica se reflejaen la creciente presencia en Conexpo. En la feria del 2005 sólo dosfabricantes fueron expositors, este año hay más del triple.

Comenzamos el tour en el stand de AWPT/IPAF en la zona de seguridadverde SZ1000 donde encontramos un pequeño stand del fabricantecanadiense Fraco, y uno de sus elevadores de mástil. Fraco se enorgullecede fabricar máquinas desde modelos remolcables ligeros a modelos degran capacidad que pueden adaptarse facilmente a aplicaciones especiales.

Vaya al Pabellón Green donde encontrará Tractel, que fabrica un agama deproductos desde plataformas suspendidas a unidades permanentes delimpieza de cristales. Según pase el hall central de camino al área Bluepuede parar en Wuxi Shenxi, fabricante chino de elevadores y plataformassuspendidas. En el área Blue encontrará a Scanclimber, la compañía finlandesaque produce elevadores de mástil que se venden bien a ambos lados delAtlántico. Pidales que les enseñen su diseño de mástil. Avro Hoist, un lídercanadiense para elevadores nuevos y usados ofrece una gama de elevadorespara alquilar. Los elevadores de Baoda están hechos en Malasia y vendidosen norteamérica por SBU hoists.

Al final de el área Blue se encuentra Hydro-Mobile, el otro gran fabricantecanadiense. La empresa está especializada en elevadores sobre mástil conmotor IC y dispone de una plataforma inusual en su serie F que permite quela mitad del elevador trabaje a otro nivel o regrese al suelo. Todo desde unmástil único. Merece la pena un vistazo.

Ahora en el área Silver podrá ver a Böcker que fabrica dos gamas deelevadores ligeros de material y personas, así como elevadores de materialtipo escalera. Si va al área Gold encontrará a Alimak-Hek, líder en plataformassobre mástil. La estrella de su stand sera su gama modular, que ofreceplataformas ligeras, medias y pesadas desde un pequeño número decomponents que trabajan juntos y que se pueden intercambiar conmuchos de los productos de elevadores. The steady increase in the use ofmast climbers in North Americais reflected in their growingpresence at Conexpo. At the 2005event only two manufacturerschose to exhibit, this year thereare more than triple that number.

We start the tour on theAWPT/IPAF stand in the GreenSafety Zone SZ-1000 and the smallbooth for Canadian producer Fracoand one of its mast climbers. Fracoprides itself on producing a range ofmachines from light-weight trailersto heavy duty models that can beeasily adapted to special applications.

Step into the Green Pavilion whereyou will find Tractel, whichproduces a range of products fromSuspended platforms to permanentwindow cleaning units. As youpass through the Central Hall onroute to the Blue Lot you might stopat Wuxi Shenxi a Chinese producerof hoists and suspended platforms.In the Blue Lot you will find

Scanclimber, the Finishcompany that producesheavy duty mastclimbers that sell wellon both sides of the

Atlantic. Ask them to show youtheir mast design. Avro Hoist, aCanadian dealer for new and usedhoists also offers a range of hoistsfor rent. Baoda hoists are made inMalaysia and sold in North America bySBU hoists.

Finally at the rear of the Blue Lotis Hydro-Mobile the other bigCanadian mast climber producer.The company specialises in heavyduty IC driven mast climbers andhas an unusual split platform on itsF series which allows one half ofthe platform to return to the groundor to work at another level. All froma single mast, well worth a look.

Now its off to the Silver Lot to seeBöcker which produces two rangesof light duty material and passengerhoists as well as ladder typematerial lifts. Then on to the GoldLot for Alimak-Hek the leadingproducer of mast climbers andhoists. The star of its stand will beits new modular range, whichallows it to offer light, medium andheavy duty mastclimbers from asmall number of components thatwork together and that alsointerchange with many of its hoistproducts. The company will alsobe showing off its remotediagnostics and recording system.

Finally in the Gold Lot is Camac,the Spanish mast climber and hoistcompany, exhibiting at the showfor the first time. The companyprices models from an extranarrow lift shaft hoist up to fullsize mast climber.
