• To inspire, guide and support young people in their
self-development and recognise their

• Over 2,200 Licensed
Organisations.
• 300,000 participants taking
part in an award.
• 119,892 awards achieved.
• Supported by around
50,000 leaders and
volunteers.
• Delivered in over 140

• Licensed to deliver Expedition, Residential and/ or
Volunteering opportunities.
• Charity, Not for Profit or Commercial.
• Local, Regional, National, International.
• Compulsory for Expedition section
• Optional for Residential & Volunteering sections

The DofE Volunteering section
Aim: To inspire young people to make a difference within their communities or to an individual’s life and develop compassion by giving service to others.
Requirements:• Must not be done for a business, but can be undertaken for
a charity, not-for-profit organisation or Volunteering AAP.• Bronze (3 or 6 months); Silver (6 or 12 months); Gold (12 or
18 months)• Minimum of 1 hour per • week• Individual – participant sets • personal goals• Signed by an Assessor
